Is the Redmi Note 3(Snapdragon) camera that terrible?

Was really impressed with the price & specs of the Redmi Note 3(Snapdragon), but the camera is probably the only & worst defect according to the online reviews. Is it(camera hardware) that terrible or  can this be fixed using 3rd party apps/ROMs? The Lenovo K4 Note seems far better here. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry too much about big review sites, they tend to have some sort of bias, try finding  independent author reviews from real owners.
