That was a very smooth and controlled landing...lots of fuel to play with.   A much more determined (slower and stabilized) descent to the pad.

Presser

Dragon chugging along.

Stated the obvious: a textbook launch & landing.

Stage looks like it's re-usable. A closer look should confirm.

Landed stage masses about 60,000 lbs (27.22t)

2 more CRS missions this year, CRS-10 and CRS-11.

Confirmed CRS-11 as the targeted first re-flown Dragon 1.

Next 2 launches: JCSAT-16 and AMOS-6, both in August. Both ASDS.

AMOS-6 may attempt a fairing recovery.

Additional LZ's to be ready for Falcon Heavy.

That S1 is looking really good. I'd say she could fly today if SpaceX needed it to.

[EDIT] Oooo ... that gives me an interesting idea.

The capture & berthing went super-smooth, opening up time in the ISS schedule. The crew asked to open Dragon today instead of tomorrow. CAPCOM gave the thumbs up.

Almost makes one think there are some goodies in this load.

I believe it may be due to either the mice want out of their spacesuits, banging on the hatch...or Kate wants her sequencer.

(these mice will be coming back with the Dragon in 1 months time)

pretend it's a mouse.....in a fine space suit.

Hatches Between Dragon and the Station are Open

Quote

The hatches between Dragon and station were opened at 2:27 p.m. EDT Wednesday, July 20. The crew entered to document the interior and will begin unloading cargo this afternoon.

The spacecraft delivered nearly 5,000 pounds of science, hardware and supplies, including instruments to perform the first-ever DNA sequencing in space, and the first of two identical international docking adapters (IDA). The IDAs will provide a means for commercial spacecraft to dock to the station in the near future as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

Dragon is scheduled to depart the space station Aug. 29 when it will return critical science research back to Earth. It is the second cargo spacecraft to arrive on station this week. On Monday, July 18, a Russian ISS Progress 64 cargo craft docked to the Pirs docking compartment of the space station at 8:22 p.m., where it will remain for about six months.

NSF'er Bill "The Roadie" Carton visited LC-14 and took some neat shots of the landed CRS-9 first stage at LC-13/LZ-1. Bill and the stage below.
