Thinking about going to Sprint for cell service

Recommended Posts

So I am with T-Mobile right now, but I am not really satisfied with the coverage and price. A few weeks ago I ran into a Sprint sales team who said that I could qualify for discounts for working for the Navy and other promotional type things for leaving T-Mobile. My thoughts on this is I am willing to do it, but I know that I can not use current phone I have, so I would have that expense as well. I am reaching out to any current or past users of sprint mobile service, and see what the good and the bad of sprint. I could always purchase an unlocked phone for sprint,  which I think might be the best option, and in that case if someone could recommend me a decent phone to look into.

I had Sprint for 10 years and it was god awful. In 2013 I went to T-Mobile because the service was much better in my area, Southern California. When I was on Sprint, Spark had just launched so I cannot comment on how good or bad the service is now, but the speeds were so slow that I felt I was on dialup. Unless I was in a perfect zone, the signal was terrible. Their customer service was not great either and screwed up our bill multiple times and could never fix the issue. I gave up and dumped them and havent looked back.

For a phone, you can grab a nexus for fairly cheap and use that on Sprint to see if it is worth while to switch. (nexus 5 and above work on Sprint)

Sprint works great if you are in an area that has many of it's towers. I have a hard time getting coverage in my house but if I go to a small town out in the boondocks it is 5x5. My house does have thick plastered walls with steel mesh in them though.

I've had Sprint for about 12 years.  I'm satisfied with them ... really good price and I haven't had any major issues with coverage.  I do not have to worry about going over on data...because there really isn't an "over".

Though I am thinking about trying Google Fi when the next Nexus' come out...and may dump Sprint if it works out for me.

I am with T-mobile, but first I'm on the prepaid service for another 4 months, and lately I have been noticing major network issues (call dropping, ###### poor reception,  3G instead of 4G, etc) and I know that it's the carrier not the phone, so that is why I am considering switching over to another company.

what city do you live  in if you dont mind me asking

Make sure to check the coverage maps for your home and/or business.

My cell network does not cover my work area.   Other than that, it works well in everywhere else....   I wish it covers the area at my work.  I have to use WIFI instead.

good phone  but not sure why your having issue.   cause  they got great coverage in your area  i would look  in to it being as Phone issue   like go to a Tmbile store get a cheap Pre-paid  4G phone and test

you couldn't pay me to go to sprint or at&t.
I have had bad experience with spotty service.  I have been on bell atlantic/verizon for my personal phone since 95 and have had company phones on the other networks (nextel, sprint, nextel/sprint, at&t, t-mobile).  The verizon phone worked almost always in comparison to the others.  I have a verizon phone now as my primary business and home phone, it also was the only phone provider to function during hurricane sandy...everyone else was out.
