Sir Topham Hatt
So way back, I used to be able to CTRL+V the link, then manually wrap it in words: [url=http://neowin.net]my words here[/url] A little while back, Neowin upgraded and that didn't work- it would just post the link in the middle of the formatting. A user suggested pressing CRTL + SHIFT + V, which would paste the link as text. That hasn't worked for a while now and as there's no little button to turn off the fancy writing box (sorry, I can't remember it's name) (another trick I used to do), I am stuck. I'd rather not go through the dialog boxes when pasting a link in the fancy writing box to make a link look nice, when it takes less time and perhaps a habitual problem in that I like to type it out manually. Any ideas?
+Gary7 Subscriber² Posted October 4, 2016 Subscriber² Share Posted October 4, 2016 It works for me, what Browser are you using? That is using CNTRL-V Firefox use to have an extension called paste quote that I though did the same thing.
+BudMan MVC Posted October 4, 2016 MVC Share Posted October 4, 2016 so you mean like this did you forget the quotes around the url? [url="https://www.neowin.net"]this is a test[/url] this is a test See my link it looks like working to me.
Louisifer
As Budman said it works with quoting the url. typing it out is so slow and not instantly visible compared to using the link button.
+Gary7 Subscriber² Posted October 4, 2016 Subscriber² Share Posted October 4, 2016 Sir Topham Hatt may have something. I cannot get Paste Quote to work here, It is supposed to insert the Quotes automatically like BudMan said. It didn't.
+BudMan MVC Posted October 4, 2016 MVC Share Posted October 4, 2016 paste quote.. What exactly are you doing the copy from and how exactly are you pasting? http://www.test.com If I type in a url and it turns into link, if I then click on said link it pops up the edit box that would allow me to change the text for the link Or I can remove that its a link with the same popup http://www.test.com Which I just did here I pasted this link, then clicked on it and clicked the remove link button

It would add the name automatically like in your image. I have just been pasting the url.
+BudMan MVC Posted October 5, 2016 MVC Share Posted October 5, 2016 Windows 10, wouldn't it working be related to the actual browser being used - so your sayings its not working in edge. Or your saying that it doesn't work on firefox 49.01 on windows 10? I could test that.
Sir Topham Hatt
Sorry, I should have said - I am using Chrome. So if I have a link: test.com, if I want to simply paste that into the quick reply, then type words I want it to display instead of the link then I can't. As soon as I hit CRTL + P, it'll hyperlink the test.com text, so it wouldn't matter if I type the text in quotes or not. HOWEVER, I think I have just figured it out. If I type [url= first, then it won't hyperlink the link automatically. Pasting the link, then typing the bbcodes will hyperlink the link Not to worry, I'll learn to do it the other way round as I usually paste, then bbcode everything
+Gary7 Subscriber² Posted October 10, 2016 Subscriber² Share Posted October 10, 2016 I now use an extension called Colt in Firefox. It works with the latest Win 10 Insider Build.
DaveLegg Developer Posted October 11, 2016 Developer Share Posted October 11, 2016 You could just click the link icon at the top of the editor, paste the link in the first box, write the text in the second, and the editor will do it all for you. BBCode support is dying out anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if IPB removed it in the next major version Sir Topham Hatt 1 Share
