Installing Windows onto an external HD

Hi all, I accidentally deleted the boot partition of my windows computer and the only way I can think of how to do this is taking the HD out and mounting it to an external HD holder and then erasing everything/re-install it with a separate computer... is that last part even possible? My main laptop is a Mac so I'm installing Parallels right now in case I may need that. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

What version of Windows are you using, and are you booting via GPT or MBR?

 

Tip that may help: Leave the hard disk in the computer and boot from the Windows installation CD/USB stick.  At the install screen press SHIFT+F10 to drop yourself to a command prompt.  From this point you should be able to use bootrec to put the appropriate bits back into place to get it booting.
