Smartphone Wallpapers from different Companies

Hi, 

 

i've got a question: There is a Forum, which offers different Wallpapers from original HTC, Samsung, etc. for Download. Strictly these Wallpapers are only legal for usage on the appropriate device right? Or are they free? Or is it a grey area? What do you think?

They are free as long as you don't sell the wallpapers for money since they are not yours.  You can use them as wallpapers on your said devices, no matter what.

 

If you are sharing the wallpapers on your website, make sure to give the authors credits,  so the visitors can go to author's website for more information or contact them for custom work.

 

They don't care unless you use their logo (such as symbol or whatever it is) as your own for your website, they could sue you for copyright infringement unless you have a permission or agreement from the authors/owners.

As long as they aren't sold, you SHOULD be able to do whatever with them.  VZW had a set of wallpapers from back in the day that originated with the Blackberry Storm, and became popular with their Android phones as well (rather cute that - as the Storm predated Android); you may still be able to find them on the crackberry.com forum (it's still around).
