It was extremely tacky. They're trying desperately to Americanise the sport, pandering to spectacle over substance, when the sport was doing just great without it. I really hope this doesn't become a permanent addition.

I think I'd be ok with it if they kept it just for the US GP; pretty much the only place they could get away with this, as it's their schtick. At least it provided a few funny moments, like Kvyat formally being nicknamed "The Torpedo".

No contest for Driver of the Day this time; Hamilton deserved it 100%. And well done to Verstappen too on breaking Montoya's race lap record from 2004.

F1 didn't tweet the usual timing screens for the practice sessions this time, and I can't be arsed to screenshot them, so straight to qualifying!

They're also revealing a new logo tomorrow: https://auto.ndtv.com/news/f1-2017-all-new-formula-1-logo-to-be-revealed-at-abu-dhabi-gp-1779943

So qualifying was the last time we see this one...

Hard to believe it's 23 years old.

It'll take a bit of getting used to I think

It reminds me of the Wipeout games, so I quite like it. Obviously not as good as the previous logo - it could really do with some colour in it - but at least they didn't go with one of the other two...

It's very PlayStation-like, especially the font. Too much red for my liking, though; I reckon a black F (or double-r, more like) with just the red 1 would work better. I knocked up a quick-and-dirty version of it just now from the Twitter pic...

    • Nah. They'll milk the current generation in terms of design - controllers, consoles, but no meaningful hardware improvements. This is one reason why people aren't buying Xbox hardware - it's stagnant.
    • Funny, but I didn't had the issue. All PC's at work are Dell and we had the culprit version of Support Assist for about 2 weeks until we got the new one. No problem at all. And for checking you can also use Dell Command Update, no need to search in windows settings. Just check the Upgrade History.
    • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Apple are scared of their customers! They have built a brand over the years of "it just works out of the box", but that slows innovation. Samsung's master stroke was the Galaxy Ultra: "Let's cram everything into one handset, make it so stupid only real nerds will love it, some of the features will work, some won't, but the audience will have such a high tolerance they won't care". Apple has no such device and so they are constantly worrying these days about the fallout of creating a new experience that customers might not like. I know it is often cited the reason they don't build a touchscreen Mac Book is they don't want to cannibalise the the iPad market, but I think it's equally cold feet after the criticism Microsoft receive trying to make a touch compatible desktop OS
