Driver of the Race: Lance Stroll - Rich dad aside, can't deny he had a hell of a race today.

Reject of the Race: Sebastien Vettel - Yes, Hamilton was being a dick under the safety car, but you never ever retaliate like that.

Best Race since Canada 2011.

Seb was a bit of an idiot there, I'm not sure Ham was being a dick, there was the circular speed, rpm, throttle, brake overlay on one of the replays and he didn't brake.

Seb just following too close after Ham made him look like he was driving a McLaren Honda :shifty: after the 1st restart.

 

Such a shame Stroll couldn't quite hang on there, but still a great result for him!

 

Going to be very interesting next race, I'm thinking back to Ham and Ros from (I tihnk last year) with some major Nicosteer and a lot of pushing and shoving.

I think whether Hamilton did or did not break is irrelevant - the FIA have the data and have indicated under the two safety car restarts he acted in exactly the same way. 

 

So first, I don't believe Seb meant to hit hHamilton like he did. If you watch the footage, when he pulls out alongside Hamilton he never straightens the wheel and then throws his hand up in the air. It's that action I think probably jerked the steering wheel too much and led to the collision. HOWEVER, Seb IMO needs to do some damage limitation here and publically apologise for what he did, even if to it's to admit he did it unintentionally. Pretending like it didn't happen and focusing on Hamiltons "break test" was not the best way to handle it.

 

Great race though, felt bad for Stroll but that's still a great result when you think where he was in Winter testing (in the wall mostly).

Yeh, I'd agree it wasn't completely intentional, I've not seen a shot with his wheel in view, but it doesn't look like he turned in, just over-corrected after jerking out to come along side.

None the less it was an over aggressive movement to come round, especially since it wasn't a brake test.

 

and yes I'd also agree a public apology is in order, else maybe a penalty/points on his licence.

As for Hamilton, the FIA concluded he didn't brake-check Vettel: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/130388 So all he was guilty of was slowing the field to a crawl before the restart, which - while annoying and a bit dickish - isn't against the rules.

Some of those penalty points drop off either just before or just after (i think after) the Austrian GP so he shouldn't have to worry about it for too long.

 

I'm a Hamilton fan so I'm probably biased but I don't think there was one thing wrong with how Hamilton drove that last sector of the track. When the Safety car is coming in, the person in the lead becomes the safety car. It is their responsibility to make sure that when they do get going they don't overtake it. The first time there was a safety car his Engineer told him he cut it too fine (although he disagreed). It's his job to slow the pack down and then go when he thinks safe, however, more likely, when it's safe AND when he thinks he'll get the best jump on number 2. If you watch the footage you can still see the Safety Car and from that "last" corner down to the pits is a hell of a long way so he had to do what he was doing.

Yeah, after; the earliest points still on his license are from last year's British GP, so if he keeps it clean in Austria, then he's in the clear for now.

Yep, I think I'll be amazed if Kvyat lasts until the end of this season. I can't recall all of the races and whether DNF's etc were all his fault or not but 4 points to Sainz 29 is not good, not to mention he's fast becoming the new Maldonado.

Unlike many other tracks on the F1 calendar, Silverstone receives no government backing.
