Steal on hard drives!

the company i work for has a deal with Fleet, so i get free checking with no min balance, free online banking and bill pay.. so works for me... btw i notice no one has really been posting their order cancellations emails in awhile... maybe they stopped sending them?

Nah, I'm in New York City, trying to find a bank that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for just having a checking account...

you can reduce or totaly eliminate bank fees by useing direct deposit check your employer, and haveing them archive your cashed checks instead of haveing them send them to you

you will still get your monthly statement

call your bank and ask

im so into this that ive setup myie2 to auto refresh...

every 10 minutes - my bank's website w/ my account $$$ and any pending charges.

every 15 minutes - my ubid account order status page

every 5 mintes - Outlook Express for any Ubid emails

the emails of this info will be forwarded to my cell phone!!

good idea

is this possible for firebird...

It's not that, my current checking account is free, but the online service totally sucks, transactions show up a few days later, and they're not labeled properly, etc, my whole account balance is delayed by at least a day, generally Greenpoint Bank sucks.

My problem is that all the other banks in my area that I would consider switching to charge a monthly fee for having an account open (and I can't keep $1000 in my account at all times to avoid that).

BTW, still no email from uBid whatsoever, and my order status still says "In Process" for both drives.

PS. Papi, the DJ in your pic is DJ Tiesto, nice. ;)

mine says "in process" as well, but i've received confirmation emails, so that makes me feel better.

have you checked your email? maybe it was directed to your junk mail folder.

I don't have such a thing as a junk mail folder, so nope. I wonder, maybe their system screwed up and they'll actually ship my drives! :p

how long does this take to process? i've been waiting for quite a while

honestly the way online transactions go from 99.9% of companies out there generate a monetary batch every day

of all the sales for the day and release it at midnight EST. at that time all the purchases then get completed in a few

hours by having the financial institution electronically transfer the money over.

dont confuse this w/ in-store transactions, its similar but the authorization for the card and balance happens at that moment.

for example of you by a CD at a store and use a Credit/Debit/Check Card when they swipe it, it dials out to the bank/company

asking if the card is legit, stolen and has sufficient funds. if all is ok, then it gives authorization for the purchase.

if you check out the timeline of the purchase, it sometimes takes a day or 2 before the amount is deducted out of the account.

this gives time for both parties to make sure everything is cool.

I hate to admit, but it will take probably til mid night tonight to figure out if the purchase(s) will work or not.

for those talking about banks, i use Bank of America. its really big in VA.

like others have mentioned before, if you have direct deposit from your employer

you get mad lahrd discounts and freebies!! i have a no-minimum checking account.

free online banking and online bill paying. however, i have to put a minimum of $25 from

my paycheck into my savings, which is cool, cuz i forget about it for like 3 months and realize

i have like $150 in there extra to play w/, that money got used today for my lahrd purchase

from ubid!! I currently put in about $75 per pay check into my savings w/ every paycheck.

also since i have profit sharing w/ my company i can slim off the profits and automatically

drop it into my savings too. w/ that in place i have a no-minimum savings account.

w/o direct deposit from my stock in dishnetwork i would have $200.

i think minimum amount accounts are BS, its your money and you should be able to

use it, the only reason why banks put that restriction on is to have their clients keep

more money in so that they can make a bigger profit. it does work out however for

everyone so that banks can save money and pass it on to the client. but like someone

else mentioned earlier... $1000 minimum is super lahrd BS!!! thats way too much.

i dont know that many people who can save $1000 more or less maintain that amount

in a bank!!

Guys be patient.. it should clear by tuesday or wednesday, thursday at the latest. You should then get an email saying the order has been processed, and if all goes well, they should ship thursdsay or friday. It takes them about 2 days to process.

i was just surfing around and stumbled upon this article: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=13691

it's so germane.

That article is about the same as a couple of others posted here.

it has to do w/ the UK. their laws and acts are different from the US.

Since Ubid is a US company and almost all the buyers are in the US,

Ubid has to abide by US law. as far as i am aware there are little or

no laws or acts that are federal that proctect online consumers.

i do know that there are many states out there that cover consumers

under their own state law. for example in VA where i live, they

protect consumers from "bait and switch" seller tactics. for example,

a seller cant put a price tag of 99cents on a bottle of pepsi and then

when you purchase it they tell you it was mislabeled and its really

$1.10, sure its 11cents more and you might not mind to buy it still

cuz it was still a good deal. VA prohibits this and by VA law a seller

in-state or out-state (exludes international) MUST sell the product

at the advertised price. so i am protected in this case w/ Ubid.

since the VA law is very broad it also covers online retailers as well

as of course physical store retailers. (yay for VA)

as far as purchasing online, if you dont already, do this:

-find the product best price on pricewatch.com or pricegrabber.com (same type of site, but you can get different results)

-find the best 3 to 5 e-tailers and use resellerratings.com to see if they actually have a good rating.

when at resellerratings, i dont read too deep w/ some of the complaints they have posted. for the most part

its retard buyers who screwed themselves and blame the company, also you get more negative feedback

than positive. its in our human nature to voice complaints more than praise... if you work for any company as a low level

employee like me you know what im talking about!! :pinch:

Thought i would enlighten you all w/ some resellerrating.com info on ubid...

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2050.html

frightening stuff... makes me feel like they will be shafting us pretty soon, but i will remain optimistic for now.

i am assuming if they are so incompitent then by chance they may actually ship the drives!!

here is the BBB file on them...

http://www.chicago.bbb.org/common.html?loc...&compid=9002499

FYI:: the BBB considers over 50 complaints in 1 year about any company is concidered "un-exceptable" and the company gets

a low rating. if you read the statics, they speak for themselves!!

its a wonder they are still in buisness!!

i know crack houses that give better service than ubid!!

yeah, i posted that link earlier, but my friend said he's had good experiences with ubid (although his friends have not). that worries me a little.

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
