Researchers, building on findings from work involving the Large Hadron Collider, have found a theoretical new form of energy. This new, renewable option is more powerful than nuclear by fusing quarks into baryons.

“Quark Fusion” Produces Eight Times More Energy Than Nuclear Fusion

BETTER THAN NUCLEAR

To reduce the emissions fueling climate change and develop more efficient ways of generating energy, while focusing on the bottom line, governments and private institutions all over the world have been turning to renewable energy. And while solar and wind energy advance and become more widely accepted, scientists continue to explore the possibility of stabilizing nuclear fusion as a truly renewable energy source that far outperforms current options.

But what if there’s an even better source of energy that’s also potentially less volatile than nuclear fusion? This possibility is what researchers from Tel Aviv University and the University of Chicago proposed in a new study published in the journal Nature.

This new source of energy, according to researchers Marek Karliner and Jonathan Rosner, comes from the fusion of subatomic particles known as quarks.

LOL The way things are going at the moment we will have rendered the planet inhabitable long before they can perfect anything like that, cos our leaders have no vision only personal greed and the normal public are apathetic to the point of being almost comatose.

The problem with quark fusion is trying to get a chain reaction going, which it doesn't appear is possible. As such, while the individual reactions are very powerful it would be very difficult to get enough of them going at one time, and for long enough, for to be useful.

If you want to make a Quark explode, just tell Odo where he's hiding his smuggled goods! :p

dammit you beat me to it! I thought perhaps Quark had opened a eatery on DS9 crossing Ferengi dishes with Cardassian or Bajoran.....

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
