More than 170 Russian athletes will participate in the upcoming games wearing a grey gestapo prisoner type of a uniform:

Gestapo/SS prisoners usually wore thin fabric striped uniforms. This being a similar to their prisoner uniform is a big stretch. Looks like regular sportswear.

Will they then have themselves "symbolically" gassed to death at the end of the games?

That must be the wishful thinking of a Russophobe living inside of you.

Thanks for letting me know (again).

Nope. More just taking the Mickey at the obvious ridiculousness of their "symbolic" gesture.  Because IOC bans are the exact same thing as the Gestapo. Right. Sure.

And I'm no Russophobe.  I'll criticise anyone who acts like a dumbass, and though they're certainly justified in protesting those bans, comparing the IOC to the Gestapo is completely worthy of criticism.

Yeah, remember destroying few myself... later games implemented button punching vs wobbling the joystick left-right :) never the less i did some serious damage to my joystics... my dad was wondering how the hell can i break so many in such a short time....

Good deal.  Glad they are allowed to compete.  Russians are good competition when they are not cheating.

Let’s forgo the fig leaf of censure, the public shaming, and call them what they are: Team Russia. They should be allowed to hear their anthem if they win,

Russian Curling Bronze Medalist Aleksandr Krushelnitckii Busted For Doping

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Russian curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii, who with his wife Anastasia Bryzgalova claimed bronze in mixed doubles last week in Pyeongchang, is formally charged with dopingafter his B-sample tested positive for meldonium.

Meldonium was banned in 2016. It recently knocked an entire Russian hockey team out of competition as well as tennis star Maria Sharapova, who earned a 15-month ban after testing positive for the drug.

The Norwegian team, which finished fourth and would be in line to claim the Russian bronze upon formal sanction from the IOC, has reportedly already left Korea and headed back to Norway.

The head of Russia’s curling federation suggested Krushelnitckii had food or drink spiked with the drug, possibly by Russia’s political enemies.

Why would someone dope in the least physically taxing Olympic sport is beyond any understanding, especially given the current circumstances.

A subversive activity is quite possible.

Winter Olympics: Russia's Nadezhda Sergeeva banned for doping

Russian bobsleigh pilot Nadezhda Sergeeva has been banned from the Winter Olympics for doping - just a day before Olympic chiefs meet to discuss lifting sanctions on her country.

The International Olympic Committee banned Russia over "systemic" doping at Sochi 2014, which the country hosted.

However, 168 athletes who proved they were clean were allowed to compete as neutrals at the Pyeongchang Games.

Sergeeva is the second of those 168 to have failed a doping test.

The IOC's executive board met on Saturday, when a discussion on whether to maintain or lift the suspension on Russia took place - a decision is now expected on Sunday.

Lifting the suspension would allow Russian athletes to parade with their national flag at Sunday's closing ceremony.

However some feel that is now unlikely to happen, with Russian athletes producing two of the four failed doping tests in Pyeongchang.

"They were due to look at how we behaved here and decide, but as we've got two doping cases I don't think they will allow us to be at the closing with the flag," alpine skier Anastasia Silanteva told Reuters.

"Especially in light of the second doping offence, our position is that the flag should not come into the closing ceremony with the Russian team," Canadian Olympic Committee president Tricia Smith said.

The neutral Olympic athletes from Russia (OAR) team won their first gold medal of the Games in South Korea on Friday.

That followed Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky being stripped of his bronze medal after being found guilty of doping.

The OAR team are the third biggest at the Games, behind Canada and the United States.

Sergeeva, 30, finished 12th in the two-woman bobsleigh event.

A Court of Arbitration for Sport panel met on Saturday to hear her case following her failed test.

"The athlete has accepted a provisional suspension beyond the period of the Games," it said, adding that Sergeeva had admitted an anti-doping rule violation after testing positive for trimetazidine.

    • OpenClaw now has native mobile apps on iOS and Android by Karthik Mudaliar OpenClaw, the viral open-source personal AI agent, now has its own mobile app, available on both Android and iOS. Users can pair the app with an existing OpenClaw gateway and can start using new mobile-native features that are now available on the app. The app supports all the existing features you'd already have seen on OpenClaw's TUI, as well as some more, such as real-time and background Talk mode, action approvals, sharing from iOS, and optional access to device capabilities such as camera, screen, location, photos, contacts, calendar, and reminders. These features are available on both the Android and iOS versions of the app. What's important with these apps is that they don't run OpenClaw on your phone, but are actually just companion apps that require a running OpenClaw Gateway on an existing device, on macOS, Linux, or Windows via WSL2. To pair the app with your existing OpenClaw gateway, users need to run the command "/pair qr" on the TUI or existing chat interface, which brings up a QR code. Users can then scan this QR code to pair it up with the mobile app. There's also an option to manually pair the app by entering the host and a port. Previously, OpenClaw had been available on phones via WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Matrix, and others. Now, with a native mobile app, the interface is much cleaner and more focused on just the OpenClaw, of course, with the added support for camera, screen, location, and more. It's important to note that OpenClaw comes with its own security warnings. There's always a chance of prompt injection with these tools, so users are recommended to double-check authentication, tool policy, sandboxing, and execution approvals rather than prompts alone. For users well-versed with the AI harness, a native mobile app makes it easier to approve an automation, share a link, use voice, or let an agent react to phone-side context.
    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
