'World's most dangerous ice cream' is so hot, you have to sign a disclaimer before eating it

Recommended Posts

A cafe is dishing out scoops of the world's most dangerous ice cream -- which is so hot that customers need to sign a disclaimer.

The Aldwych Café and ice cream parlour launched a Valentine's Day ice cream special called "Respiro Del Diavolo" (Breath of the Devil).

But the frozen treat is so spicy that customers must be 18 years of age or older and sign a legal waiver before it is handed over the counter.

Words in the disclaimer mention having the ice cream "could be a risk of personal injury, illness and possible loss of life."

And staff at the cafe even need to wear gloves when they dish out scoops.

The handmade treat comes in at a whopping 1,569,300 SHU on the Scoville scale -- a measurement of the pungency (spicy heat) of chilli peppers.

"And staff at the cafe even need to wear gloves when they dish out scoops."

Err no, they are serving food, therefore have to wear gloves.....legal requirement in the UK.

I can eat whole habaneros without any problem.

Does it mean that I can eat this ice cream?

No.

Habaneros are between 0.6m on the scale, the ice cream is 1.5m on the scale, talking at least 6x more spice.

I like my chillis and my spice......phal curry etc nps, but thats just stoopid :p I can also munch on scotch bonnets without too much pain.....(100k to 300k on scale)

Habanero's are around 200-300k SHU ... while this fire-cream is 1.5M...so probably not. Now if you can eat a Carolina Reaper...this is the dessert for you.

I like spicy foods...but not something like this. Most I'll do is spice my food with a little Trinidad Scorpion powder (but I wouldn't eat a whole Scorpion pepper)
