Why always Android Keeps its version name on Biscuits or cookies or something relevant eating ?

Why android like that, i guess its a way of advertising, is it ???? 8.0 named Oreo, Oreo is a biscuit brand name , whenever i heard version like marshmallow, nougat so i always used to think why android choose like these names, can anyone give proper reply  hehehe i know its useless question, but even then whyyyy

As far as I understand, it's kind of a running gag about the developers' favourite snacks. Eventually Google adopted it officially, hence the ads with the branded snacks.

So, like @dimz01 said, seems to be an internal thing.
