Travelling to Berlin

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've a fair amount of annual leave left to take (as per usual) so am looking at heading over to Berlin for a few days.  I love Germany, speak German to A-Level standard and want to see this fascinating city.  A few questions:

1) Would 4 days be a decent amount of time to spend there?

2) Where's the best area to stay?

Obviously "best" is subjective, so maybe worth noting that my desires will be a friendly area, lots to see and photograph (camera being my main reason for most travel), places to walk and see icons and so on.  I'm not one for going clubbing all night but friendly bars are good.

Thanks

Had a great time in Berlin. It's a beautiful city. Airbnb is the right way to travel. Check reviews an locations, depending on where you want to be but it's easy to get around via train + walk.

Here are some photos of my last trip.

May I suggest a trip to Prinzipal Kreuzberg. I always try to go there. Its a 1920's themed bar with great food and drinks.

Looks epic, but I will be travelling light and probably not taking clothes that suit such a venue.

Good timing, considering that Berlin just lifted their Airbnb ban!
You can also use booking com for finding good places to stay. Cheap too.
4 days definitely can be enough if you plan well.

Good area to stay is the kollwitzkiez district. It's close to the central district (mitte) but it's not as touristy.

Book a table in the TV tower and enjoy a bite to eat. You'll get a  360° timelapse in about an hour :)

That's certainly a plan.  Stick the GoPro against the window...
