Opera 7.50

Well I just downloaded Opera 7.50 Build 3494 and I am AMAZED! This program is pretty damn good. I have tried Opera loads of times in the past but never got on with it but the new UI in this version is really good (for me at least). It has so many features now!

I always kind of like the new mail client but not the browser well now it has not only newsgroup support but RSS newsfeeds and IRC client! I don't know if I will continue to use it but I am thinking of installing it on my mums computer. She is currently using Firebird but doesn't like it. In her words "it feels heavy" and I have to agree with her the UI is not as responsive as IE and other browsers. Also she gets annoyed by not being able to see the cursor in her posts on websites, etc (don't know if anyone else has had this problem?).

Anyway just thought I would make a post so that others can try out this new version of Opera. The download link is http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/o750tp1_3494.exe

Been using it for a couple of weeks now, haven't encountered anything too horrid yet. When I saw the 'default' skin & layout after installing it, I couldn't wait to apply my fave skin and tweak it to my personal preferences again. S'all good.

Hmm... :wacko: I have a question!! Why in Opera Website shows "Latest version: Opera 7.23 for Windows" ??? :unsure:

Because 7.23 is the latest version :yes:

7.50 is a preview release of what is to come :)

I used Opera when it first came out on a mac and loved it. It was fast and trim. It seems now that they are adding too much cr@p to it. I'll stay w/ Firebird since it's still light and trim. But I do have to tip my hat to Opera for loading REALLY fast and opening pages REALLY fast.

Someone make an Opera lite ;)

I tried the 7.5 beta, somehow I felt it 'heavier', It doesn't contain the same lightness and breeziness as is with Opera 7.23.

I like the new advertisements, it is smaller so that's good. The new UI looks cool too.

thats the beauty of opera. they add features without bloating the software and still it loads damn fast.

a world class browser/mail client/news reader/rss aggregator/IRC client for less than 4 megs and still damn fast. thats technology for you...

yes well im download 7.5 right now, 7.23 progressively accumulates too much memory resources.

I had it running for 4 hrs the othernightm surfing neowin mainly, and it ended up after 4hrs having 110mbs of memory in use.

Im hoping 7.5 corrects this....

weird, my opera stays open for around 12-16 hrs at times. and runs like a charm... :)

hehe jj, okay well it does it on my laptop and PC, so thats sketchy.

hope 7.5 fixes it for me anyway.
