Turbopump propellant flow path to achieve high chamber pressure is quite tricky. Requires an inducer & 2 impellers with ~100,000 shaft horsepower.

Mk1 & Mk2 ships at Boca & Cape will fly with at least 3 engines, maybe all 6

Hoping for 380 sec Isp, but at least 370. Otherwise similar to sea level version.

With Raptor development progressing smoothly, how is vernior/RCS thruster development going for Starship? Still methane-based? Nitrogen, hydrazine, or something new?

N2 for vacuum. Aero surfaces & high gimbal angle main engines for atmosphere.

Aiming for 150 tons useful load in fully reusable configuration, but should be at least 100 tons, allowing for mass growth

What are your thoughts on ONeil structures @JeffBezos talked about?

Makes no sense. In order to grow the colony, youd have to transport vast amounts of mass from planets/moons/asteroids. Would be like trying to build the USA in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

What happened to SN3?

#1 was tested past its limits at McG, #2 was previously on Hopper, now its #4. Where's #3?

#3 was @ McG at the endish of last month, it did a 40second test fire there. So it's probably still there.

Until I see that thing flying for real, I'm just not going to be able to take it seriously.  Way too much like TinTin for me...

Fly-by-wire can make about any shape fly, videos on YouTube show lawn mower shapes buzzing about, so an aerodynamic design like Starship should be a snap.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
