Does anyone have a specially designed backpack for the DSLR camera?

Recommended Posts

I have a carrying case that came with my camera which holds the camera, and two lenses, however I have added additional items like extra batteries and lens filters, so I really do not have room in the bag anymore. I know that there are backpacks designed for DSLR cameras, and they have a crazy price range. So I am wondering does anyone use a specially designed backpack or do you simply use a standard backpack?

Are they laptop backpacks or specific for cameras?

Extra large professional and gaming DELL laptop backpacks 👍💪

I can fit a 17" laptop and a DSLR with all the accessories (pretty much all the sensitive equipment that I wouldn't trust checking-in when I'm travelling by plane and carry it on with me in the cabin) inside one.

I have a few specific DSLR backpacks. When working out what I wanted, I bought 3. 2 sit in my wardrobe and my go to i will dig out later because I’m forgetful and will let you know.

A generic or non-dslr backpack is NOT up to the task if you take your equipment seriously

OK so my go-to is a Vanguard Uprise 46: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vanguard-UP-Rise-II-48-Expanding/dp/B008OHO1RY

My previous was LowePro Flipside 400 AW - great bag, but the back opening just became more of a chore for me: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lowepro-Flipside-400-Camera-Backpack/dp/B073C7Z3K5/ref=asc_df_B073C7Z3K5

I also own the Vanguard Messenger but feel it's more of an "additional" bag rather than a main.  Used rarely when equipment demands.

These look nice, but apparently are only sold in the UK :( I checked Amazon.com and it can not find the bag

OK, the LowePro is sold in the US, but the Vanguard is not

DELL's professional and gaming lines of backpacks are as far from generic as you can get.

They feature extra thick protective layers (which protect your gear, duh) and make them comfortable to wear even when they're fully loaded and heavy.

“Duh”

They are designed for laptops and I’m sure they are great at that. If you knew the first thing about compartmentalised backpacks for photography, you’d know that you’ve not got a clue what you’re talking about.

In fairness if you want the LowePro I’d sell it for a good price plus shipping.

But the take away you need here is about easy access, compartments and where the security needs to be.

I store my lenses individually in nicely padded, double-zippered Sigma cases.

I don't need any of the compartmentalized BS.  The first thing I did when I got my first LowePro case, was throwing away that "removal camera compartment" that made compartmentalization possible. Since then, my photo gear collection grew and I needed a lot more space.

DELL's backpacks also look (subjectively) a tonne better and provide a better value.

What exactly is the issue with the bag? I couldn't really tell from the pictures what you mean about the back opening. Also the LowePro Flipside 400 is listed on Amazon for $129.36, You've got me curious about what a good price would be! :)

The way it opens.  Manu open from the "front" and by that I mean "the bit that faces away from your back".  This one, the "back" opens, and by that I mean "the bit that sits against your back".

Dude, I'd let it got for like $80 seeing as it's been used ONCE.  My only concern is shipping it out to you as you're in Floriday (where incidentally I shall be in late September).  I'm not gonna push a sale here cos that feels crass - just a dude trying to help a dude.

I can understand the shipping concerns as well, I'll PM you later

I've been very happy with the LowePro Fastpack BP 250.  It can handle a DSLR body with a lens attached and can also fit several other lenses, a small tripod, and a laptop and tablet with room to spare.  I can post pictures if you would like.

    • yeah it seems to be Edge only. The dialog buttons work as expected in Chrome and Firefox. The phone is using Android 16 (OneUI 8.5) and Edge version  149.0.4022.53
    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
