This isn't a Doodle so your comparison doesn't make sense, Google Doodles are playful images to celebrate an event. They're not celebrating 9/11, displaying a small respectful icon/flag is good.
Now, maybe I am not understanding. However.. Sept 11 is not a day to be celebrated, but a day to be recognized. From what I can tell, google is doing just that. Bringing recognition and remembrance without celebrating it.
Good points but they could have done a bit more on the memorial side. Firemen, Police, ect. I wasn't suggesting a celebratory page.
I'll remove the comparison I agree, it doesn't make sense.
This isn't new ... afaik they've always shown restraint and tact on 9/11 (usually the black ribbon like today) ...not really sure it is an appropriate day for a doodle. Same with December 7th.
Sometimes the simplest things mean the most. Do not need to go over the top at all and the ribbon symbol is used a lot to honor people who deal with tragic events.
