Banner ads randomly appear above mini spy, and randomly disappear as well

My sub ran out today and now I am getting these random banner ads that show up above the mini spy and stay for a few seconds and then disappear. I do not have uBlock origin turned on for this site, but it seems odd because these ads are from doubleclick.net, but they are simply text, no images, in fact the last one I saw was titled "How to remove ads" :D they are not obtrusive, but simply funny!

I get that sometimes, too. I am using uBlock Orgin, but I have this site whitelisted. (had for a few years now)

Now the interesting part, I just clicked on the article about Firefox 72, and I got met with a message asking me to turn off adblock, which I do not have running on this site (whitelisted). Any idea what is causing this?
