Jolo
Hi, Just came here to warn potential buyers that the flashgip Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme (supposed to be the best Notebook from Lenovo) and rival to Dell XPS 15, MacBook Pro and others, has serious Hardware and Software issues. The most important problem is that the Notebook is missing keystrokes when you are simply writing a letter on Word or writing an e-mail. The problem ocurrs even on the BIOS, Linux, and everywhere. There's multiple complains from different users around the world (Europe, USA, Latin America), and there's a 22-page thread on the Lenovo's official support forums. Lenovo hasn't acknowledged the issue yet and doesn't reply to latest questions about when a potential fix will be available. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Extreme-Gen-2-missing-keystrokes/td-p/4569936 Some users (like me) are asking for refunds. There are other problems, specially with the display: - 4K OLED display, with an horrible quality (some kind of 'mesh' on the screen because touch functionality isn't native to the display) - Lag when using only a secondary screen - The infamous Optimus one-second freeze when moving the mouse https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-X1-Extreme-Gen-2-laptop-screen-issues/td-p/4542183 And others reported individually: - Bad quality materials (the notebook damages itself when the bottom lid is opened for a RAM or M.2 upgrade - The second M.2 slot not working and the notebook doesn't POST - Problems with docking station not detecting external displays - Wi-Fi 6 card disappearing from the Device Manager - Horrible battery life with the 4K display (no more than 2 or 2,5 hours, not joking). https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Extreme-Gen2-Battery-life-is-ridicolous-Please-share-yours/td-p/4588130 And many other problems that are unnaceptable for a USD 2.000 notebook. Please be aware potential buyers, and it would be very helpful if those cases made a front news page so we can press Lenovo to fix this problems. Regards. Of course, this one? - Horrible battery life with the 4K display (no more than 2 or 2,5 hours, not joking). Should be expected. The battery is too small, the laptop runs too hot, and the screen at that resolution sucks too much juice.
goretsky Supervisor Posted January 5, 2020 Supervisor Share Posted January 5, 2020 Hello, Lenovo's support forum is primarily a user-to-user support mechanism. Contact their support and open a ticket to report a bug, get a unit serviced under warranty, etc. The telephone numbers for Lenovo ThinkPad support in Chile are +56 (2) 32103145 or 188 800 462 888.
