Just saw episode 3.   I really like what they did with this episode, solid writing actually.

Spoiler

They've kind of managed to explain away the shofting Eugenics wars timeline compared to the old dates from TOS.   I think this works well actually.

Episode 4 is out.  This one felt like a more old school TOS type episode just with the newer fx and overall visuals.

I still like the fact that Canada finally got repped in a Star Trek and they actually used Canadian money!

Speaking of parts of DISCO and SNW's are filmed in Toronto (well actually Etobicoke to be exact, used to work right across the street from the studio)..  Some of DISCO was also filmed up in the badlands north of Brampton.

I had already watched EP 3 last week, which I thought was pretty solid, with it's well focused attention to the issues at hand, both large & small, and therefore had high hopes for EP 4, which I watched today, and unfortunately, was disappointed.

The part that concerned me was the fact that the whole "forgetting" thing seemed more of nuisance at first, down on the planet, until it started effecting everyone still on the ship, which as well all know could have been disastrous, but was seemingly resolved so easily & quickly.

Plus the fact #1 Ms. HottieBabe was almost immediately knocked out of commission was dreadful IMHO.

And now that Spock has been unwillingly thrust into the Captain's chair once AGAIN but then not really accomplishing much, I seriously hope they will go back to more teamwork-centered plotlines sooner rather than later, where more of the crew can contribute to solving the issues at hand.

I noticed some sneek peeks for EP 5 are floating around already, but won't spoil anything for anyone until after I watch it next week.. :D

You could make an argument that it was resolved easily but then again that goes back to the TOS style of it IMO.  It was more focused on the characters and not so much any complex scifi problem that needed to be solved.

I'd also hope the commentary about "forgetting" isn't/wasn't lose on the audience in the end.

Having lived in Toronto all my life, it was amazing to see locations that I've walked along countless times. I don't think I've ever related more to a single episode of Star Trek until I watched this one. Toronto is my home and I never thought I'd see an entire episode take place there.

New episode out.   Some more Spock shenanigan's and our Nurse Chapel episode of the season it looks like.  Some nice character moments for sure.  Once again the scifi stuff isn't the main focus and we're focusing more on the characters.

I don't care, I am just happy for some actual Trek. Long may it continue! Maybe we will get 5 seasons out of it (in reference to the 5 year mission) However whenever has that worked out in the past, not for TOS or even Enterprise, and TNG had "continuing mission" and managed seven 26 episode seasons.

I think it'll stick around for some time, it's got the numbers to support it.  And the shorter 10ep format should help budget wise since they can do a good number of less FX heavy episodes per season if they have to.

These episodes are fantastic and still miss Hemmer but Pelia adds her own flair.

Next week is the Lower Decks crossover.

That's pretty cool.   I think a more serious toned animated Trek would work even better than live action, at least with how crazy they can go with alian designs and other FX that cost too much to do in the real life shows.

Well, although I liked the episode overall, so far Pelia hasn't really contributed very much to the scenes she was involved in, and her barely understandable ramblings are really annoying IMHO, almost as bad as the Doctor's grumblings.  I really like Carol as an actress, and was really excited to hear that she was joinging the cast but now I'm not so sure

    • I have been thinking about AI detector tools as a software workflow rather than a single "AI score" widget. When someone pastes text or uploads a document, the UI can return a report with a probability-style score, sentence highlights, reliability notes, and limitations. The useful part is that it can point a reviewer toward passages worth reading again. The risky part is that a polished score can look more certain than it really is. For people who build or review web apps, what should happen before the user copies or exports that kind of report? The minimum I would expect is: A clear input boundary for pasted text versus document files. Limits shown near the workflow, including minimum text length and maximum file size. A report label that says the result is a signal, not proof of who wrote the text. Sentence highlights and evidence notes alongside the global score. Reliability notes when the sample is too short or lacks enough sentence variety. False-positive and false-negative caveats that remain visible in copied/exported summaries. I am trying to avoid the pattern where a clean report card becomes the whole product story. For AI detection, "review this evidence in context" seems more honest than "trust this score." Would you keep the warning text visible on every report, or make it collapsible so the main result stays easier to scan? Disclosure: I work on a small AI detector/reporting workflow, but I am intentionally not linking it here. I am asking about software and report design, not promoting a site.
