Dashel
Texas 'Smut' Peddler Faces Trial Whoohoo. Another victory for the American family to get these nasty smut peddlers off the streets. Wow, what a surprise that a right wing, conservative christian group is behind this as well.

PezDspncr
Texas law allows for the sale of sexual toys as long as they are billed as novelties, BeAnn Sisemore, a Fort Worth attorney representing Webb, told the Houston Chronicle before a gag order was issued by the judge presiding over the case. haha "come get your novelty vibrators here...only $19.99...batteries not included"

Another victory for the American family to get these nasty smut peddlers off the streets. Wow, what a surprise that a right wing, conservative christian group is behind this as well. Sounds more like the law enforcement enforcing an old law Webb, 43, was arrested in November by two undercover police officers for selling sexual toys and charged with violating Texas obscenity laws. If the people of Texas wish to change it, they need to petition their legislators. There's no need to attempt at placing blame on a group of people that neither write, nor enforce the laws, they just tattled.
matt74441
I just found out three weeks ago that my neighbouring city of Peterborough is Canada's largest manufacturer of sex toys and various fetish stuff.
Digital.K
She wasn't really arrested for selling sex toys, she was arrested because she said that the toys "enhanced" sex. That's why they busted her. It's really dumb. The cops could have spent the time and money on that lady in getting a drug dealer off the street or a murderer or something. I mean honestly, who was she hurting?

poind
Sounds like Texas has some weirder-than-usual obscenity laws. Given the woman was a "representative" of a $20 million/year business, though, she may have ultimately simply been selling things with inappropriate techniques, regardless of what was actually being sold. At least the way the article's presented (irrelevant "Christian" references and all), sounds like some Texas laws may need some severe review. Dashel
That is quite true Adoni. Doesn't it just seem strange that the 'tattlers' as you put it are probably of the same variety that enacted such laws in the first place? I don't think the Christian reference is irrelevant. Not that as a whole the religion is at fault. Just that there must be something in that belief system that somehow encourages and promotes (or at least leaves the door wide open to) such behavior. You don't see Buddists, Pantheists, nor Deists running around trying to save people from themselves. O'Reilly had a parishoner on the other night that was even hanging outside porn shops and strip clubs and taking photos and mailing them to their homes. When O'Reilly asked him if he thought that was a bit 'unchristian', he replied that in his interpretation of the bible, he was required to be a 'beacon of light'. Wouldn't it be better to do this by concentrating on your own sins and not the sins of others? In the end I just wish Christians would act, you know, more in accordance with their supposed belief system. People clamor for people to stop trying to take religion out of the culture. Maybe before you fight that battle you should get your own flock in line. Edited February 12, 2004 by Dashel

I'm not going to attempt to debate the principles or values of Christianity here, I don't know what brand the tattlers are, but keeping Christian beliefs to onesself would be contrary to those beliefs. I mean honestly, who was she hurting? Are you crazy? Her actions are devastating to all American families. Its people like her and her promotion of non-procreative sex and the idea that sex can be merely for pleasure that will lead to the downfall of Western Civilization as we know it. Why does she do it? Because she hates family. I say burn the witch.
Dashel
Even OReilly agrees that it isn't very 'christian' to go around judging others Adoni. ;) Still, I'm not surprised by the coincidences that Christians are the ones that have trouble minding their own business. When your value system is a form of unconscious reaction based on the ressentiment of others. My favorite theory though is that Christians simply mistook the symbols for fact; They thought there really was a kingdom of God not realizing that the kingdom of God was themselves. They took Christ too literally. And rather than being a form of life based on hatred and judgment of others, he was a free spirit who had no want of power, but simply understood the value of the inner world. LoL Elliot. Burn the family hating witch. ;)

Suffice it to say O'Reilly's brand of christianity is based in Catholicism, which is contrary to what I believe. I take the Bible literally in it's entirety. John S. Veteran Posted February 14, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 14, 2004 lol what happened to the separation of church and state ;) This often misquoted phrase was written by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to a Baptist church who was concerned about a widespread rumor that there would be a "National" religion known as the Congregationalists. I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson Writings, Merrill D. Peterson, ed. (NY: Literary Classics of the United States, Inc., 1984), p. 510, January 1, 1802. You've obviously confused it with the first amendment to the Constitution:Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;... Which is not applicable in this argument
JohnsonBox
sex will soon be completely outlawed in texas  Yeah, that is ridiculous. Originally, sex toys have been seen as obscene and outlawed in China. But it was US, which impacted strongly China, and now merchants are selling sex toys all over China mainland. Elliot801
But what did your "burning the witch" mean? Sarcastic or seriously? Of course we're serious; she has committed a graven sin by promoting and committing whoredom with false idols. In other words, she worships Satan and shall surely be put to death. After all, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."
