How can I know if my brand new cell phone was actually pre-owned?

Recommended Posts

I bought a Motorola G7 play for someone at a reliable store here in Mexico. Been buying my hardware needs in that store for the past 6-8 years never had a problem.

But funny the brand new G7's box had some tape/scotch on the edge ,but what really caught my eye was on the phone itself it was the "T" logo from T-mobile. T-mobile doesn't exist in Mexico! Also has the following letters  "REVVL" (attached pic).

I want to go back to the store and check what the hell. I don't mind if the logo , if it's a aesthetic thing. What I'm really concerned if this was a previouslly owned devicem but I want evidence

This is NOT g7 play. It is revvl. It is a similar but NOT the same phone.

I would return immediately since you were misled.

Hard to tell if it's a first gen Revvl, but I would assume so. If it is, you've been sold a sub-par product.

The Revvl isn't even a Motorola product.  It was made by TCL for T-Mobile.

Who knows if it’s even that since it has a Motorola logo on it too.

The  T-Mobile Revvl was a rebranded Moto G7 at one point.

weird. it's always confusing when they do cross branding like that

Good to know, but a quick glance, I didn't find any Moto logos on them. Maybe its a newer revision. Still not sure I would trust it without going back to the store and demanding them take a look at another clearly untampered box.

It should be returned just based on the fact he was told it was an actual Moto G7. I was also puzzled by the Moto logo. Pre-production unit? LOL

Actually managed to return it without a hassle. He wasn't able to answer me why the rebrand, but oh well returned it is what it counts

Got store credit, going to buy a G7 Power. Let's see if it isn't another T-Mobile...

I've ordered several hundreds, maybe already thousdans of equipment for personal and my business, so I'm giving them the reason of doubt there was a mistake on the import.
