The first season hasn't even aired, and Paramount has already renewed for a second season, https://redshirtsalwaysdie.com/paramount-makes-a-suprising-announcement-about-star-trek-starfleet-academy-01jakkjsd1d0

Also, Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black and She Hulk) will be a guest star.

I'll watch it if that useless redhead (I think she's called Tlly? Most incompetent ensign in Trek) from ST Discovery is not in it.

If I remember correctly, it was one of her ideas that resolved the spore drive's primary problems when they ended up in the spore's "universe" if you will (can't remember it was back in S1). She also resolves a ton of highly technical issues... perhaps you may not take to her walking on eggshells mentality when it comes to her behavior? She always does seem to be afraid of her own shadow.

I just remember wondering how she was ever a bridge officer at all with all of her insufferable insecurities. I am sure she's a wonderful person in real life, but the character was poorly written. They even had to dedicate a whole episode to her being forced into taking the responsibility of leading cadets out of a problem of some sort as if to show how she is "growing" into her function.

Never bridge officer material and I just rolled my eyes at her scenes and eventually stopped watching the show altogether, but also because of all the lead character's cry/whisper/talking that frustrated me.

It was a bit much. I try not to skip any trek though. Stuff like that doesn’t bother anywhere as much as section 31 movie did.

Nice throwback to Sisko and is that a female Jem'Hadar?

A female Jem'Hadar makes no bloody sense whatsoever... They're a male only, genetically engineered, clone species...  Did the idiots making this not watch ANY of DS9, or bother to check a wiki, at ALL?

This is going to be crap, isn't it? :(

I was gonna say something similar but decided there's no point anymore. Some people like nutrek for whatever reason,.let them have it and I'll just rewatch the originals and hopefully in a decade someone new will take over and do a retcon

While I'm not trying to make an excuse for it... How many years in the future does this take place?  Is there a possibility that the Jem'Hadar were re-engineered to have a split male/female species?

I think to part of the issue is they may be taking STO (star trek online) as cannon....https://memory-gamma.fandom.com/wiki/Jek'Kralija

Genetic roll of the dice and one point a female was born?  There was an episode of DS9 when Bashir and O’Brien crashed landed and ran into a bunch of Jem’Hadar and one wasn’t naturally dependent on ketracel-white (genetic anomaly). So, it’s possible a female could have been born at one point.  Plus after how many centuries have passed between DS9 and when this takes place.

They seem reptilian, which can adapt to such things. And the genetic manipulation may have either stopped or (as can happen) trigger a push back reaction. If anything it tells a story within itself, about them no longer following the founders or such

Starfleet Academy not only brings back traditional Klingons like Cadet Jay-Den Kraag, but it also debuts Klingon hybrids.

Commander Lura Thok (Gina Yashere) is a Klingon/Jem’Hadar hybrid who is the Chancellor Nahla Ake's First Officer and Cadet Master. Meanwhile, the villainous Nus Braka is a hybrid of Klingon and Tellarite, creating fascinating new spins on the warrior race.

As much as I was a StarTrek fan, I noped out on ST:Discovery and anything related. This doesn't look much better to me tbh.

I kinda like ST:SNW, as long as they don't do musical eposides.... 😛

I tried to rewatch ST:D (from where I left off in season 4 ep7) but my god, it's like they all have to stop and talk about their feelings every 5 minutes. It's infuriating!

Michael's whisper talking really gets to me, and she just does not have the vibe of a Captain.

    • Can you read? I've said I'm willing to pay more for a notchless (no notch) 3:2 screen.
    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • make your own notch - it's not that hard
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
