+TRS-80 MVC Posted June 28, 2025 MVC Share Posted June 28, 2025 It's not a joke but I think it is pretty hilarious I was searching Fitch for a credit rating on a fund. I found what Fitch had to say about the fund including this disclarimer. LOL "This abstract may have been generated in whole or in part using artificial intelligence and is therefore subject to error and inaccuracy, including but not limited to, hallucination" No link posted for privacy reasons. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted June 29, 2025 Subscriber² Share Posted June 29, 2025 Hallucination is the correct term to be used. I don’t get the funny? +TRS-80 MVC Posted June 29, 2025 Author MVC Share Posted June 29, 2025 Hullucination may be a sign of a more serious condition like schizophrenia or dementia. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted June 30, 2025 Subscriber² Share Posted June 30, 2025 In AI parlance, hallucination is essentially... hmmm, a false positive within it's logic. harrykanekane51
AI? Could be the future of everything or just a fancy autocomplete. Either way, it's keeping things interesting and definitely giving us some good laughs lately. biocos
Yeah that disclaimer made me laugh too, it feels surreal to see it in something as serious as credit ratings. Kind of shows how quickly AI is creeping into places we don’t even expect. False Positives and False Negatives rarely harm a computer but false positives and false negatives can lead to the demise of an individual who experiences them espeically while hullucinating and sometimes otherwise. +TRS-80 MVC Posted October 1, 2025 Author MVC Share Posted October 1, 2025 On 01/10/2025 at 13:14, Nik Louch said: What? Ok… I was mistaken, False negatives are a big problem both with computers and people. Your computer does a scan and comes up with nothing missing malware infesting the device. That is a False Negative. The scan came up negative but the results were false. Same with people. Tested for a cancer and the results come up nagative, though you have cancer. That is false negative which in this case can be fatal. Same as not identying malware on a computer. That can be fatal to your computer. A false positive with a computer scan be lead to a lot of wasted time trying to eliminate the file identifed as malare and if it is a critica part of the OS. eliminating the item due to the False Positive can make the computer inoperative. Phishing attacks often generate a False Positive to get people to spend money to eliminate that which doesn't need to be removed. If a person is falsely identified with cancer that can lead to taking unnecessary cures which can be very detrimental to the well being of a person. There are numerous other instance in life where a false positive can be harmful.
