You can play Fallout 76 for free until the Fallout show's season 2 finale next week

Bethesda has kicked off a free-to-play event for its popular multiplayer game Fallout 76, letting fans jump in and enjoy its wasteland until the Amazon Fallout show's Season 2 finale next week.

The second season of the Fallout television series on Amazon Prime Video has been enjoying high viewership numbers and widely well-received episodes since its debut in December of 2025. While Bethesda doesn't have a Fallout game or remake to shadow drop and build on the hype, it has made its sole multiplayer game free to enjoy for a limited time. This free-to-play event for Fallout 76 has just kicked off.

Released in 2018, Fallout 76 landed as Bethesda Game Studio's sole multiplayer-focused online RPG. For those unfamiliar with its gameplay, while the title features another wasteland to explore, which happens to be the dilapidated open world of Appalachia, it is populated by both NPCs and other human players. There is also a big focus on base building.

The game has changed massively since its original release, with consistent content drops expanding its world and available quests that are available for all players for free. Last year, it even let players become Ghouls, something that has been a community request for quite some time in the mainline franchise. Recently, with its Burning Springs update, Fallout 76 brought over the fan-favorite character The Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins) from the Fallout TV series.

The latest free promotion lasts until February 4, meaning anyone who wants some more Fallout to experience while the show prepares its finale can jump in and try out the online RPG's wasteland without paying any Caps.

Show fans may notice that there is a bit of a mismatch here though. While Amazon Prime Video's Fallout Season 2 finale was supposed to release on February 4 originally, its release was pulled forward to February 3 earlier this month, slightly messing up what seems to have been a scheduled and themed free event for Fallout 76.
