Why I didnt think about that before?

No, I havent done it Flish.

Thanks man

No prob, I didn't include instructions because I didn't think about it. Next month I'll be sure to include instructions on how to update.

Hi! I have a few questions:

1. Why AP is not recognizeing that SP1 is instaled on my system (Windows XP SP1 integrated to install cd, Language: Polish) ?

2. How can I remove error message "AutoPatcher Database Validation" that comes when I run my DB?

3. Why when AP is loading DB, Windows popups a message "Pleas insert Windows CD because some system files were overwriten" ?

Sorry for my English

Well, it could be it's because it's a Polish install, though that's never happened before. It's not meant to run on a Polish install unless it's customized to. (Y) Was made for English Only, with the ability to be customized.

1. Why AP is not recognizeing that SP1 is instaled on my system (Windows XP SP1 integrated to install cd, Language: Polish) ?

Answer: Because in some cases it may not recognize non-english Service packs (though it should)

2. How can I remove error message "AutoPatcher Database Validation" that comes when I run my DB?

Answer: Once you've altered the database, you can't. Unless you use a switch (I believe /nonags does the trick).

3. Why when AP is loading DB, Windows popups a message "Pleas insert Windows CD because some system files were overwriten" ?

Answer: Some of the files AutoPatcher uses to run exist in Windows XP. What the error means is that it wrote over your Polish ones with English before running.

How about adding this registry tweak in the april update, it displays all hidden files by default instead of having to go through the folder options and manually do it

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

"ShowSuperHidden"=dword:00000001

Flish,

Where on APXP March Full release is the option that I can set it like Windows 2000 Search, instead of Windows XP? I went to it manually and disable the Animation when it searches, but I know in previous builds there was an option in APXP, but I cant seem to find it on the March release.

I had to redue my dads computer, and I just noticed that.

Thanks

Perhaps this has been asked before, but a quick search on this forum didn't turn up anything helpful, and I don't quite have the patience to read through 37 pages in this thread first!

I was just wondering, how does one undo a tweak that was installed by the Autopatcher? I installed w/ the option to open all unknown filetypes in Notepad, and I've realized the feature is quite annoying... how do I undo it?

Thanks...

Edit: Oh dang :s ... I suppose this question belongs in the main Autopatcher forum, and not in this thread. Would a mod kindly move it to a separate thread in the forum? Thanks!

I installed the full February release of AutoPatcherXP and apparently it has changed a setting in Internet Explorer that I can't seem to find to change back. It has something to do with cookies I am thinking because...for instance with Yahoo Mail...I know the cookies it issues expires after a given period of time and you have to log back in...well I log back in and it keeps making me do it over and over and over...finally log all the way out of Yahoo Mail and have to log in all the way over again before it lets me into my mail. Would of you good people happen to know what setting that is so I can fix it and stop the madness?

EZRecovery:

Have you tried reinstalling APXP March Full and checking the options fully ? I remember seeing it in the march release (though mine was patched from february). Though the new search is a bit less functional (I mean i think it works worse !), i still use it, it tends not to bring explorer.exe down *too* often :/

RufioPan:

Perhaps try reinstalling APXP and clearing the option if you didnt try that already. It might just do the trick.

gballard:

I couldnt find any cookie related settings and i doubt the main patches (which are basically of MS origin but repackaged) would change security or even cookie settings (deliberately). You could try clearing all cookies from the internet cache (Tools, Internet Options, Delete Cookies....) and see if that removes a dud cookie that IE forgot how to interpret.

I'm glad I'm behind a stateful NAT setup with a simple firewall -(basically) only (originally) outgoing connections get allowed. (I did map some sockets)

Bang: no surprise viruses for me unless i double click something silly, or perhaps open a malformed data file or similar.

Of course one day I'll probably 'upgrade' to a full IP address (block maybe) and then tackle these things head on..

Funny story: the latest Security Rollup package doesnt seem to want to acknowledge it's installation on my computer. No matter how many times I install it from Windows Update it says the update has completed successfully and stays on the critical update list. Even installing the full (redist-style) version completed almost immediately and with no errors, but didnt remove the item from Windows Update....

I have this problem on both my home and work systems too...
