When mentioning Epic Games nowadays, most gamers might think about Fortnite or Unreal Engine, two behemoth projects being developed at the studio. However, it sounds like Epic won't be stuck with just shipping new updates to those products anymore, as it is reportedly building an extraction shooter with Disney as a partner.

The latest report comes in from Bloomberg, which is citing multiple former and current employees at the Tim Sweeney-led company. According to these sources, Epic Games' most recent projects, like the PC games store and Fortnite events, haven't delivered on their promises, but it is planning a resurgence.

Back in 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games to expand its reach in the gaming landscape. Since then, there have been multiple collaborations between the two companies, including crossovers inside Fortnite that have reportedly brought in new Disney+ subscriptions even higher than expected.

The report says that now, thanks to the partnership, entirely new games are about to come out, and one of them should land by November this year. This is described as being a game like Arc Raiders, the massively popular extraction shooter from late 2025 that has so far sold almost 15 million copies.

The game is said to feature Disney characters that battle enemies while trying to reach an extraction point for safe escape. The report adds that there are some internal concerns about its unoriginal mechanics, but the studio is pushing to make it come together by its November launch target.

The Disney deal is reportedly slated to spawn two more games under Epic Games as well. The first of these is said to be getting middling internal reviews, while the third title's resources have been moved to the first two projects to appease Disney's faster release requirements.

Epic Games recently laid off over 1,000 staff. CEO Tim Sweeney said the worsening engagement in Fortnite as well as industry-wide slower growth was to blame for it. If this report is accurate, we will have to wait and see if the company can bounce back thanks to these high-profile Disney projects.
