Dozens of games release on Steam every day, and while those have a chance of being discovered, it's delistings that usually go under the radar. Lately, users have found that Disney is going down this route without an explanation and without any warnings. The company's rare stock of classic titles has now been hit with removals twice, with it now totaling up to 25 games that have gone missing on the Steam store alone.
The delisting is most visible via the SteamDB tracking platform. Spotted by Wario64, the latest wave of removals that landed on April 14 has targeted 15 titles published by Disney. Here are the latest games hit by this decision:
- Outlaws + A Handful of Missions (Classic)
- STAR WARS Dark Forces (Classic)
- STAR WARS Rebellion
- Disney Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
- Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure
- Disney Universe
- Disney G-Force
- Disney Tangled
- Chicken Little
- Disney Alice in Wonderland
- Disney's Treasure Planet: Battle of Procyon
- Bolt
- Disney Pixar Brave: The Video Game
- High School Musical 3
This follows the earlier chunk of games that was removed by Disney in January this year, which were these:
- Phineas and Ferb: New Inventions
- Disney's Hercules
- Stunt Island
- Afterlife
- Disney The Princess and the Frog
- Cars Radiator Springs Adventures
- Disney Fairies: Tinkerbell's Adventure
- Toy Story Mania
- Disney Winnie the Pooh
- Lucidity
- Disney Planes
- Armed and Dangerous
- Chicken Little Ace in Action
- Finding Nemo
Steam users who already own these games don't have to worry, as their library seems to be safe from these moves from Disney. However, anyone looking to relive their childhood or jump into these classics now has almost no way of legally acquiring them.
It doesn't look like only Steam was hit by the latest wave either. Reports say that The Incredible Machine Mega Pack, and possibly others, was also removed, but this one was taken from the DRM-free GOG store.
What's unclear is if these games will be gone forever or if Disney has some plan for a remastered pack or re-releases planned in the future.
