Poll: Do you think Microsoft can change what people think about Windows 11?

Microsoft is now busy fixing Windows 11 and giving users what they want. But is it too late to fix Windows 11's reputation?

The last few weeks were full of positive announcements for Windows 11 users. Microsoft finally acknowledged that its operating system needs a lot of work. After promising to fix things to regain consumer trust, the company proceeded to release new Windows 11 preview builds with changes users had been asking for years. This situation raises a question: Is that enough? Is it possible to save Windows 11's reputation?

The problem with Windows 11 is that it was poorly received from the get-go and not without a reason. Many felt like the operating system was unfinished, rushed, and completely uncalled-for. Some even considered Windows 11 and its steep (by 2021 standards) hardware requirements nothing but a way to trick users into buying new hardware.

The truth is, those allegations were not unfounded. When Windows 10 arrived, its purpose was to fix Windows 8.1. Windows 10 offered new, more meaningful features and changes built on existing features that users loved. Windows 11, on the other hand, had little to offer, and many of its novelties felt like a downgrade from Windows 10. Crippled taskbar, controversial Start menu, inconsistent design, poor File Explorer performance, buggy updates, just to name a few.

Later, Microsoft started littering the operating system with ads, predatory practices, and what many believe is useless AI. On top of that, Microsoft was falling on deaf ears to user requests, shipping countless features nobody asked for instead of focusing on users' needs. Now, with Windows 11 pushing six and Microsoft suddenly waking up to user feedback, enthusiasts feel a tiny bit of hope.

Windows Update is getting better. Taskbar and Start menu customization is getting better. Rumors indicate that Microsoft wants to make File Explorer blazing-fast and even fix Windows Search, a long-standing joke among PC users. Microsoft is toning down its AI efforts and promises to make Windows updates more stable. Some of those promises are already available to test in the Insider program.

While enthusiasts welcome those changes, you can't help but notice that average users on social media remain skeptical about Windows 11. Of course, it is too early to tell if Microsoft's efforts can actually fix Windows 11, but it is good to see Microsoft trying and implementing meaningful changes. But again, is that enough to convince users that Windows 11 can actually be good? Maybe it is time for Microsoft to consider releasing Windows 12, which is nothing but a giant fix for Windows 11?
