Amazon Games announced two new games in the Tomb Raider universe in late 2025, which included a complete remake of Lara Croft's first adventure. Dubbed Legacy of Atlantis, this title was first announced with a broad 2026 release date. However, during today's State of Play presentation, developer Crystal Dynamics revealed an early 2027 release date instead.
Being built on Unreal Engine 5, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is retelling the 1996 story that began Lara Croft's story. The remake opens up many of the original's closed spaces into semi-interconnected environments that players can explore and approach from fresh angles.
"Every space is designed as a real place first, rich with secrets, collectibles, and resources to reward those who go looking," says the development team. "Even returning favorites like the cog puzzle come back reimagined and grounded in the world around them. The result is a Peru brought fully to life, with the scope, history, and personality to make every iconic moment unforgettable."
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is releasing on February 12, 2027, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, as well as Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders have already gone live across these platforms with a $59.99 price tag. There is a $69.99 Deluxe edition with 48 hours of early access, an extra outfit, and a post-launch DLC pack included. Meanwhile, the $199.99 Collector's Edition is for physical edition buyers, containing a steel case, a statue of Lara and a T-Rex, an art book, and more.
Don't forget that Crystal Dynamics is also working on a brand-new entry to the franchise named Tomb Raider Catalyst. This also has a 2027 release window attached to it currently. This adventure will take place in Northern India with some of the biggest levels seen in the long-running franchise.
