AlphaAlien finally decided to pull his dick out of his ass and release what he's been able to come up with so far. Unfortunately, he's done "A HardwareGeeks", and deliberately released incorrect information, and is, I quote, "having fun."

For those of you who want to try it anyway, here's what he posted.

C:\windows\system32\sbctl.exe dcestart

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,MilStartServer 610F0AF8

C:\windows\system32\sbctl.exe wmgstart

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgConnect 3D657807

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgCreateRpcServer 3D657D3F

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgStartDCEServer 3D65813D

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,SetupAnimationCallback 3D658C00

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,SetupManagedCallbacks 3D636A5A

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,MILRenderDebug 3D654B40

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgConnect 610E3FE1

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgStartDCEServer 610E485A

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgCreateRpcServer 610E43BE

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,SetupAnimationCallback 610E55BC

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,SetupManagedCallbacks 610D3DDE

rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,MILCreateFactory 610D2242

He also notes that "oh and the dce initialisatin script isn't in the right order", and "oh, forgot to post the arguments for all the commands".

So... back to playing with the commands again, I guess.

wtf

he isnt

No, he isn't? Then what's this?

Oh yeah, if that's not being an ######, then I'm Larry King! kthxbyedrivethru!

AlphaAlien is a goddamn ######. He should be hit with a shovel and left bleeding in the moonlight. Seriously.

I don't know if he is a ###### or not because I don't know him personally!

But I don't like how he deals with his information about DCE. In my opinion he should make all his information publicly available, so everybody can profit from it! That's the only way communities like Neowin or Hardwaregeeks can work efficiently!!!!

Michael

wtf

he isnt

I have to agree :)

I'm sure that if you all hadn't acted like ###### to him and demanded that he released incomplete work he would have given working intialization scripts when he had them finished. he still figured out tons more than all of you put together, in his free time, and gave you a good starting point, so I don't see why your complaining. Pour through the dll's yourselves if you don't like it.

This isn't HardwareGeeks, no need to kiss his ass here.

there's never a need to act like an ######, so whats your point?

btw, by just using logic i would say this is a good guess as to the correct order of the commands, but I have no way to test so its really just a guess:

C:\windows\system32\sbctl.exe dcestart

Careful now; sbctl has to be called BEFORE Milcore.

it seems AlphaAlien has made a "toolkit" for activating DCE and other stuff (his "special thing"):

his tasks for now

let me explain once and for all what Something Special is:

1-enabling a bunch of Desktop Composition Engine effects for the os such as:

-Glass (transparency)

-Lighting

-Shading

-Waving Windows

-3D Desktop called 'World'

-3D Folder View called 'MIL'

2-Missing Sidebar Tiles:

-Windows Media Player

-Messenger

-Synchronize

-People

-Basket Tile

-Search Tile

-User Tile

-Most Frequent Apps

3-Media Center 2004

the Test3dControl is for the Glass Effects (transparency), but what does "CG" mean?? (see below)

Careful now; sbctl has to be called BEFORE Milcore.

like i said, I'm going on pure logic guessing here. so altering it from your words of wisdom we get

C:\windows\system32\sbctl.exe wmgstart
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,MilStartServer 610F0AF8
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgConnect 610E3FE1
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgCreateRpcServer 610E43BE
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,WmgStartDCEServer 610E485A
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,MILCreateFactory 610D2242
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,SetupManagedCallbacks 610D3DDE
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milcore.dll,SetupAnimationCallback 610E55BC
C:\windows\system32\sbctl.exe dcestart
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgConnect 3D657807
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgCreateRpcServer 3D657D3F
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,WmgStartDCEServer 3D65813D
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,SetupManagedCallbacks 3D636A5A
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,SetupAnimationCallback 3D658C00
rundll32 C:\windows\system32\milrender.dll,MILRenderDebug 3D654B40

if that doesnt work, try arranging the commands in the hexnumerical order at the end of each rundll call so it would go [sbctl wmg], [milcore], [sbctl dce], [milrender]

"pulled a hardwaregeeks"?

The order doesn't matter, just run the script a few times to fix the order issues. What does matter is I didn't include the arguments for anything, and this only initialises DCE doesn't enable any of the effects. BTW, press alt-ctrl-del to get rid of the black screen that happens when you do this.

This DOES NOT work with 4053

To get this to work in 4051 you need 3 files from 4029 (sbctl.exe, milcore.dll and milrender.dll)

CG and Test3DControl are DirectX effects found in shell32

and as far as I'm concerned this shows why I never come here though their alien smiley is cool :alien:
