Enabling DCE

well i've been playing around with whidbey and the longhorn sdk, doning tiles and stuff.

Well with the sdk its pretty easy to get dce effects in ur apps. like animations or transparency..may u guys should take a look of that..maybe u find something to activate dce for the whole os and not just for VS created applications..

yes, XAML makes it easy to do those effects, but there is a problem: those effects aren't powered by the DCE yet. Everything still makes use of GDI+ (by default, running AA's guide might change that)
