Running os X on a non apple PC

Recommended Posts

lol and why would that happen? and do you think there's a copy of Windows that runs on Mac hardware, just in case?

Windows NT4 and Windows 2000 beta (up until beta 3, I believe) both had PPC versions, although it wouldn't specifically run on Macs at the time, so it's not that much of a stretch to believe that it very well COULD exist. Just like Rhapsody (which is what later became OS X) ran on x86 hardware up till Developer Preview 2.

It's possible to run Mac OS X on a PC!

The PC has to be using Motorola PowerPC CPU

And some Open Darwin thing...

is there any PC out there that uses that chip?

As most have said, it would kill Apples business model. However it is possible to run it on an x86 platform as demonstrated by Mr. Jobs himself at some demonstration/show (can't remember where or when but there are videos of this demonstration out there). However it was never released to the public. So, whoever said that they can and we can't, was sadly correct.
