Neowin's Official NBA 2004 Playoffs Thread

the ironic thing is that the lakers being an All star team, i was more afraid of the Nets and the Pacers than i am of the Lakers.

in yesterday's game we saw that the Pistons defense had locked down D. George, G. Payton, K. Malone, D. Fisher, and Madvedenko. they let Kobe and Shaq score all the points, but the Pistons had the up since they have so many great shooters.. the pistons bench scored a good amount of points and the opposite for the lakers.

what i'm wondering now is, what does Phil Jackson have up his sleeves, i dont' think he has any game plans, but what scares me is that if the pistons have bad shooting tomorrow night, the lakers are going to up their tempo and that is a pistons weakness although they are doing much better that coming back this season. they used to give up after the 1st half if they were down by a lot of points.

GO PISTONS!

edit.. i also think that R. Wallace should be benched until the 2nd half, Okur should take his place and guard malone and at the same time guard shaq since he's bigger than Williamson and makes more baskets. so Okur can foul and they can substitute between Okur and Williamson, then they can bring in R. Wallace and B. Wallace (Campbell will take Big Bens spot)

i call sweep!

i call that too, but silently :ninja:

which reminds me, gotta wash my pistons shirt for tomorrows game.. the fresher my shirt the fresher they'll play  then when my new shirt arrives it'll help them win at the Palace.. i'll wear both just incase.

I Am Glad the Pistons proved me wrong, I truly am...

but heed the quote...

and remember back to just 2 rounds in the playoffs, Spurs had a 2-0 lead on LA.

Also remember to 3 years ago in the finals, Larry Brown's team at the time also won the first game of the Finals...

I really do hope Detroit wins, more than anything I do, but just as the quote says, it is indeed FARRRRRRRRRR from over

Hehe, luckily Larry Brown isn't relying on one particular player this time (Allen Iverson). Don't get me wrong, I pray to God every night that the Lakers lose, I absolutely HATE them. I respect Shaq because he is what he is...his post-game philosophical crap can go though. But Malone (stupid WWF player), Payton (ugly, cocky attitude and facial expressions), Fisher (complains at EVERY foul called on him), Bryant (do I need to say anything here? wannabe MJ), Fox (hahahaha, what hair!)...they're just irritating.

And for some stupid, unexplained reason, they always come back, like they did on San Antonio. <sigh> I just hope the Pistons don't have a let up game, and they continue to fight hard. If they can somehow win Game 2 with 3 games in Detroit, then there's a chance. But, like you said, Indiana won that first game and it was all down hill; so did Philly, for that matter.

LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!! LAKERS!!!! <----------- The team with more expirence will win a game aint **** u saw how they came back after being 2-0 againts san antonio

LAKERS IN 5

btw **** ALL LAKERS HATERS ( dont hate cause ur team dint make it lol ) :D

Spurs were not and are not garbage.. the truth is that the Lakers are the only ones who can beat the Lakers... I do agree the Pistons were heavily under-estimated, but with things said and done, look forward the Lakers finish the series in 6. And yeah, they gonna win tonight, you don't beat the Rockets, the Spurs, and the TWolves for nothing and with nothing.

put your money where your mouth is ;)

you keep thinking that, the Spurs were garbage anyway and so were the Timberwolves. like my sig says history will repeat itself.

:p

THE SPURS ARE WAY BETTER THAN THE PISTONS AND SO IS TIMBERWOLFES AND IM PRETTY SURE THAT THE KINGS WOULD TAKE THEM ON THE EAST AINT **** COMPARED TO THE WEST AND WE PROVED THAT IM THE ALL-STAR GAME!!!

BTW.... HOW MUCH U WANT TO LOOSE THAT LAKERS WILL WIN THE SERIES PUT SOMETHING UP FOR GRABS..

FINAL EDIT -

I am upset. Kobe pretty much completely took over in Overtime. I have to give him credit, even though i do hate him (and way before any of these other "issues" of his, i tend to hate really good players who are not on the knicks ;) ) But Kobe is damn, damn good...

DAMN Detroit had such a good chance at possibly putting this series away completely...

Pistons blew a good chance of beating the lakers. Even in OT, shaq had 5 fouls and so did kobe. Why didn't they expose that situation and draw the fouls by going into the paint more, or use players to iso with shaq or kobe. (sigh) At least they got 1/2 from LA.

Well, Detroit won homecourt advantage. 3 out of the remaining 5 in Detroit...they HAVE to win 2 of those 3, though.

Don't worry just yet. The Lakers still needed a big game from Luke Walton to win this one. That's not going to happen again (see: Kareem Rush).

pistons shouldn't have a problem winning at least two games at the palace. last night's game was great. i thought they had it won until that stupid mistake towards the end leading to the kobe bryant 3 pointer. :pinch:

edit: thought i could use a new avatar.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
