Intel decks old Pentium Ms as Dothan looms

There could be bargains about

AS WE REPORTED at the beginning of this month, Intel will introduce a 2GHz "Dothan" Pentium M chip on the 9th of May.

See Dothan 2GHz (755) Pentium M to arrive in May.

And Italian web site hw-vault.com has had its eyes skinned and detects the disappearance of a number of old Pentium Ms, as well as some other disappearances on the Xeon and Pentium 4 front.

That information is here.

It's as well to keep your eyes skinned for Centrino bargains if you're on the lookout for a system using the old Pentium M "Banias" cores. Intel reported at its last conference call that it had quite a few in stock.

It will move to persuade its notebook customers to use the newer Pentium M and deck the old just as soon as possible. But there could well be bargains about in the small window between now and May. ?
