Running Mac OS X on x86 PC!

When I got my "command SLEEP STUB" I had to keep moving my silly mouse to keep it active, it seemed to take longer if I let it freeze. :s

After a few more hours though I got it working! :D Going to try the Nightly bulids for P4 to see if it helps any. :/

Guys, I did not see any performance difference in the nightly build for P4.  Any ideas??

Unrealism  :/

I dunno, but there's something wrong with the install on my 2.2GHz P4... for some reason I can't get set the redraw rate below 105 without it completely bogging down the cpu. Even 101 causes it to choke and the mouse hardly moves. But I can get the redraw rate down to 30 on my AMD 2000+ Athlon-M notebook and it will run smoothly. :/

? for people who have a mac, ran virtual pc, then ran pear pc inside virtual pc. How's the performance? Is it really earth shattering or does it seem to be typical?

I'm gonna try the nightly builds to see if they help... I have my doubts though.

I know, the nightly builds don't provide any significant boost in speeds so far.

Until someone figures out how to accurately tweak the running clock speed of PearPC emulation (ie. get it running above 10mhz), then not too much speed increase will take place.

Ok so im starting the install over again for the 4th time hopefully now that im moving the mouse around it will install. For those who have gotten 10.3 to install try out EXPOSE its really cool. Whats the hex number in the config file to run 192 or 320 mb of ram. Im running it on a Sony Vaio 1.8 ghz with 512 ram and a GeForce FX 5600 256mb. Are there any real necessary updates for 10.3 yet. Do u think ill be able to run Final Cut Pro yet?

ok so 10.3 install just finished after seting slave to 0 in config file i start pearpc up and it says i have no bootable drives. I know that 10.3 was installed so how to i get it up do i need cd 2? :o

there was a post a ways ago about using darwin to edit the drive, because the boot sectors are incorrectly ordered for it to be bootable

tonight i will compile all the good articles together for this and put them in one spot

PearPC inside of VPC on OS X is slow as hell. Took about 10 minutes to boot. The install didn't take place in VPC (that would have taken days), the image is just a copy of one from a friends PC.

Somebody should try running OS 9 in PearPC, it would probably be FAST actually.

Last time I booted into OS 9 on my iBook, I was amazed how fast it was compared to OS X.

yea if u can compile something that would be great, but is there any easy way to get it up without darwin. I mean i want quit installer when i restarted and went to startup disks and selected 10.3 but that didnt work.

the darwin thing isnt too hard, you dont have to format it or anything, as long as its already successfully installed (or you expect will ask for disk 2) this will make it bootable

    • OpenAI is now rolling out Lockdown Mode to more ChatGPT users by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in February, OpenAI first announced Lockdown Mode for users who want the most comprehensive protection from potential attacks. At the time of the announcement, the company mentioned that this feature was available to a small set of highly security-conscious users, including executives or security teams at leading organizations. Today, OpenAI announced that Lockdown Mode is now rolling out to all personal ChatGPT accounts, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, and also self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. Users can enable the feature from ChatGPT Settings > Security when it is available for their account. When Lockdown Mode is enabled, ChatGPT limits or disables several features that connect to the web or external services. These include live web browsing, Deep Research, Agent Mode, and more. Here is the complete list of services that will be disabled in Lockdown Mode: Live web browsing: Web browsing is limited to accessing only cached content. Search results may be limited, unavailable, or stale. Image support: ChatGPT may not display images in regular responses or retrieve images from the web. Users can still upload image files, and image generation remains available where it is otherwise available. Deep research: Deep research is disabled. Agent mode: Agent mode is disabled. Canvas networking: Users cannot approve Canvas-generated code to access the network. File downloads: ChatGPT cannot download files for data analysis. ChatGPT can still operate on your manually uploaded files. It is important to note that Lockdown Mode does not completely block prompt injections from appearing in content that ChatGPT processes. For example, a malicious instruction could still be present in an uploaded file or cached web content. However, the mode is designed to reduce the ways such an attack could send sensitive information outside the conversation. Along with Lockdown Mode, OpenAI today also announced that the Active sessions feature is now available across ChatGPT accounts and workspace types. This feature allows users to review where their account is signed in across devices and end sessions if required. A session will have the following information displayed: Device or browser information. First-party app context, such as ChatGPT, Codex, or API Platform. Approximate location. Sign-in date and time. Whether the device is a trusted device. Whether it is your current session. OpenAI highlighted that the Active sessions feature will not be available for accounts linked to an organization’s single sign-on setup, including SAML or OIDC.
