i just got the update (10.3.4).... the installer hung at "14 minutes left" and the prorgess bar is full. status says "Running Installer Script" and that's it... its been there for about an hour :s

dang... i hope i dont have to resinstall OSX

I had the same problem with the 10.3.3 before. So i turned off ppc, and tried to boot again, and it wouldn't boot. Then i deleted the nvram file, and it worked again. only it ran worse then before.

any resolution here is my config:

## PearPC Configuration File

##
## Main memory (default 128 MiB)
## must be >= 64 MiB
##

#memory_size=0x10000000

Only problem I can see with that config file is that you have the memory size commented out. You need to remove the " # ".

OK Now I have a very basic Macintosh question. I downloaded Firefox, and I got a 9.8MB DMG (disk image). This is now "mounted" on my desktop, and all I see inside is the Firefox icon. The status bar says "1 of 1 selected, 380KB." Where are the other 9.5MB of support libraries? How do I "install" this program to my hard disk?

Also, if I select "Show Contents of Package" then I can see the guts of the DMG. Do I just Drag the Firefox icon to my hard disk to install it? I've never used a Mac extensively, I am skeptical that it can be this easy....

OMFG NO WAY THIS CAN'T BE REAL!

I DL'ed the 6Gb HDD image and installed 10.2 onto it.  Everything seemed to go fine but when I reboot to the newly installed HDD, it just loops on "still waiting for root device".

I've done the boot disk fix thingy of swapping the partitions around and that didn't help.

I have however managed to install and run 10.2 successfully on my PC at home.

Any ideas?

:(

Interesting....... I commented out the memory_size setting in my config file and now it's booting from the disk.

My setting was

memory_size = 0x10000000

. Anyone see any probs with that? I'm using the P4 Nightly Build.

Hi guys

i followed the steps to get the network working in mac os x by installing the openvpn-2.0_beta2-install in windows, but i get this as soon as i deleted the ## on the lines of

pci_rtl8139_installed = 1

pci_rtl8139_mac = "de:ad:ca:fe:12:34"

Make sure that you are using the build that enables full-screen and networking from richard goodwin site.

yes thats it, all you do is drag it to where you want it. And to uninstall you just drag to the trash bin :)

It's way too easy, mang. I sooooo want a Macintosh now. I saw a really cheap G3-350 with 512MB on eBay recently; it went for $220. I wish I'd snagged it.

How do you enable full screen? What are the keystrokes to switch between full and windowed?

PearPC is cool, too bad i cant set it up. I'm using the new network build, and followed every step on this site http://www.kelley.ca/pearpc/, but internet does not work for me. Please help me setup my PearPC internet.

Here are some informations

-I dont have a router, but I have my windows firewall on.

-I cant found the "Internet Connection Sharing" option :???

-Here are some informations I got from Ipconfig

Ethernet adapter Rogers:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : slnt.phub.net.cable.rogers.com

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.---.---.---

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.240.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 24.157.240.1

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

^^^^

If I were you, I'd rename your connections "Internet" and "TAP" depending on what they really are. This helps you idenfity them more easily. Then you want to follow the instructions on the Kelley site.

Also, go to Network Connections, click the "Advanced" menu, then choose "Advanced Settings." Look at the Adapters and Bindings, under "Connections." You should see all the network adapters in your computer. Use the green arrows on the right side to adjust the order of the adapters so that "Internet" is on top. TAP should be next.

Ok, I followed ur instructions, booted into osx, and followed Kelly's instructions

ip address: 192.168.0.200

subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

router: 192.168.0.1

DNS: 192.168.0.1

but Safari still couldn't connect to the internet :(

edit: from Kelly's site

enter a valid nameserver address (192.168.0.1 may work, I can't remember, I just entered my ISP's)

I dont know what a nameserver address is?

  • 0

^^^^^^

Nameserver is a DNS server. Try your ISP's server. To find this, go to Start/Run/"Command"

then type "ipconfig /all" and find this line:

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Yours should be a regular IP address on the Internet. If it is a 192.168.x or something like that, then look for another number. Try each number, remembering to click "Apply Now" after each try. When you're on the Net, it worked! :)

Anyone know (or can point me to) why I can't choose more than 128mb ram? If I set memory_size to memory_size=0x10000000 I get "still waiting for root device". I'm sure I can squeeze more speed out of OS X by giving it more than 128mb. I'm using 10.2, BTW.

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
