Running Mac OS X on x86 PC!

Question

My setup: Panther 10.3.4, Windows XP Host, Ethernet Bridge.

I have had no luck getting file sharing to work between mac & windows, no matter which platform is sharing files. FTP is hardly functional; LIST-ing works, but as soon as I start transferring files, things just stop cold.

Any ideas?

There's something else you gotta change in the config file, look for this line:

prom_env_machargs = ""

Put -s in between the quotes and you'll get the command prompt. I was in the same situation you were too haha :p When you're done doing all the steps in the boot procedure, change that back to just "" and it should boot.

prom_bootmethod = "auto"

# Example of how to use "force":

#prom_bootmethod = "force"

#prom_loadfile = "test/yaboot"

#prom_env_bootpath = "-s"

# bootargs: don't change unless you know what you are doing

# machargs: set to "-v" to get a verbose startup

#prom_env_bootargs = ""

prom_env_machargs = "-s"

# This is needed if you want to boot Mac OS X

prom_driver_graphic = "video.x"

# This will adjust the position of the initial page table (don't change)

#page_table_pa = 104857600

#

# CPU Config

#

# Processor Version Register

# Defaults to 0x00088302

# Only change if you know want you are doing

#

#cpu_pvr = 0x00088302

# Main memory (default 128 MiB)

# must be >= 64 MiB

#

memory_size=0x10000000

#

# IO Devices

#

#

# PCI IDE Config

#

# Drive type will be set according to file extension:

# .img: Harddisk (filesize must be multiple of 516096)

# .iso: CD-Rom

# Or you can override this by specifying the type via

# pci_ide0_master_type / pci_ide0_slave_type

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1

pci_ide0_master_image = "pearpc-6gib.img"

#pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1

#pci_ide0_slave_image = "darwin-701.iso"

pci_ide0_slave_image = "osx2.iso"

#pci_ide0_slave_image = "/dev/cdrom"

pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"

little help, i tried chaning Cd's but noting, tryed disabling it, nothing

Hello!

I just got my new computer together and PearPC is off the wall! It boots in about 20-30 seconds to the desktop! I can minimize and open stuff great, and I got networking together in about a minute and a half!

------------

AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Asus K8V SE Delux

1024mb OCZ PC3200 Dual channel EL

ATi Radeon 9800XT

-------------

I am posting this from OS X 10.3.4 with IRC, Konfabulator, Adium, and 3 safari windows open and it runs smooth. Just though I would share my success story!

Phalanx: It's very much alive and active. Infact, soemone has Alvitec enabled without GUI artefacts (meaning we will see big speed increases and Alvitec in the next release, hopefully). Check below for screenshots:

Theres a new build of PearPC SDL with the new clock! The bouncing, progress bar and cursors animations are now correct!!

The new SDL build is from the 0.3pre cvs! "ppc.pre03.SDL.win32newclock.exe"

I also noticed a speed improvement when loading apps. :)

You can get it here :

Thanks alot for that, the build is FAST! A very nice improvement i would say, not perfect but certainly very nice.

BTW there are some windows/osx mouse issues with this, the f12 mouse thing doesnt work. All you do is put your mouse over the program and it will start working in osx! But sometimes the allignment is totally wrong and you cant control it. Any fixes for this??
