Boxing is the only REAL sport... ever.

Boxing is the best. All the other sports suck. There's no action in any of the other sports. They're all fun to play but not fun to watch. Street basketball is fun to watch tho, but the NBA.. nah uh. All the action is fake, they all fake getting pushed, shoved, slapped, hit, watever... just so they can get that foul point. Football is sorta gay... cuz the action goes on for a couple of seconds, then gotta wait a little bit after the action stopped so that they can set the team up again. I sorta like watching soccer, i just watch it to see how good they can handle a ball with just their feet, the only action i see in soccer is when someone scores a goal and the announcer yells "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL".

Thanks for your opinion..I'll keep that on mind.

You sound like you don't have any life. Boxing is just one type of sport, so stop dissing other sports just cuz you think boxing is cool and everything. Sport is not just about actions. It is about team work and team spirit. You don't sound like you appreciate sports enough to even speak for basketball, footable or even soccer

Well sorry, I'm not dissing anything, or at least not trying to. What I'm trying to say is, Boxing is the only sport that is entertaining to watch, and the rest, it gets boring.

Looks more like YOU'RE trying to get My attention. Stop reading my posts then, loser.

you post up, and expect people not to read? i also read your other post about you stealing. i guess you are trying to get some attention or atleast trying to make yourself look ignorant with your comments. by the way, you got owned, because he did get your attention with his post.

Hockey, I sorta like hockey. I wasn't into it that much until i met my friends mom, she's a red wings fan. And she got me liking the redwings. I'm good at playing hockey, you should see my wrist shot, it'll break your knee off.

As long as we are talking about both boxing and hockey there's always this old joke:

"I went to a boxing match and a hockey game broke out"

you post up, and expect people not to read? i also read your other post about you stealing. i guess you are trying to get some attention or atleast trying to make yourself look ignorant with your comments. by the way, you got owned, because he did get your attention with his post.

but uhm... he's the one not liking my posts... so why is he still reading them? and uhm... like i never said that i didn't want anyone to read my posts. and uhm... like... learn to read. and uhm... but i got his attention first... so is it more like uhm... him getting owned?

What happened to Prince Naseem Hamed (or whatever he was called). At least he had some charisma.

Please, that comment made me cringe.

Hamed got lit up and exposed by Barrera. Another thing that got me thinking was his ring entrances and his loud vocal praises to Allah just before 911 happened. Dont think he would have been able to put on his "unique" show in a comeback fight here within the US. He did however, make a comeback fight in England I believe. It was an incredibly poor showing and then dropped off the radar.

Boxing rocks, ill be the first to say it. Only sport I truly follow. But, there are other sports that are indeed as challenging and entertaining.

Boxing is a fantastic sport, fun to watch (unless it's a John Ruiz fight), and always leaves room for an argument. Which is also why it's completely frustrating and irritating alot of the time. They really need to do something about the judges.

Prime example: Marquez-Pacquiao. What a "trave-sham-mockery". How do you knock someone down 3 times in one round and only get a 10-8 scoring? BS. Politics, politics, politics.

And boxing SERIOUSLY needs to hope some new blood comes into the heavyweight arena soon.

Basketball...there's a real sport. I'm not talking about the NBA, either.

Prince Naseem

Hrm let me think. Which sport has had more controversy about being fixed than all of the others sports? Oh that's right, it's boxing!

Ah yes, cant deny some fights seem to sway more to one side than the other. I do believe the doctor visits are much more real. Can you challenge that statement? Why not vote the next time for a regulated commision and lets see boxing get cleaned up a little. maybe some healthcare/insurance for fighters who get seriously injured. Fights will be more competitive and evenly matched.

Find it quite tasteless to put a boxer in the same category as a Showgirl Wrestler. Show some respect. There will be a few of them that wont make it through the year. Cant say the same for the *Athletes* of the WWE.

Hey soloredd... Pacquiao is awesome. Got to see him live during an exhibition and he schooled local legend Salud. Cheered him on the whole time during his fight with Marquez. First round was one of the best rounds in boxing this year. But dude, I watched the fight two more times and am glad Pacman got the draw. He lost majority of the rounds after the first. Marquez controlled him and outboxed him. Pacman got spoiled with the first round and kept on with the "I can beat you with one punch theory". Its unfortunate but I must concede, Pacman very well could have lost that one.

All in all, a rematch lurks in the background. Even if the folks that read this are not boxing fans, its a fight you truly should not miss. Could sway your view on the sport.

Hey digipoi, how's the islands?

I agree, after the 1st round, Manny looked extremely ordinary. But, I can't see how one judge had it 115-110 for Manny and then 115-110 for Marquez. I had no beef with the draw, but the way the scores played out was really weird. Of course, all 3 judges sit in different areas, so who knows what each of him saw. And yeah, I'm definately looking toward the rematch.

I'm still trying to recover from my man Sugar Shane. Some fighters just have opponents that give them problems, I guess. Antonio Tarver has proved that theory twice now, hehe.

Man, we had the rainiest season Ive seen in the past 10-15 years. Argh! Lasted forever. Was working on a network one day and and the building next to me (about 50 yards) got cracked with lighting. Scared the sheet out of me. Never experienced that in my life. Let alone in Hawaii. But now, its muggy beyond toleration. Weird year of weather for sure.

Manny should have listened to his corner that night.

Sugar Shane... cant fault the guy. Winky has the numbers of most fighters 154lbs and lower. Bet he would beat Oscar the same way. Winkys undisputed in that weight class, wish i put money down on that fight cause I seen it coming.

And damn, wish I got to see Tarver shutdown Jones. Cant stand either of them to tell you the truth though.

Long live Toney! Beats them both.

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
