Am i yet to find an effective config though, to handle both single\various artists\soundtracks AND albums in one playlist.

i'm using all these in one playlist with navigator suite, "all music" in database view doesn't look like a mess now =)

Jexxster: I have alot of songs i liked off a certain album, where i didnt like the rest, lots of anime opening\ending songs etc, which are not albums, but i dislike having them in a different playlist since i often set foobar to random playing and let it loose ;)

mitchmalibu: yeah, have seen navigator's popularity. Care to post a screenshot of how albums and singles look in it ?

mitchmalibu: can i decide which tags differnciate those ? i currently have %singletrack% for singles, and %various% for VA albums.

singletrack tag will do for single tracks, but i don't know if the various tag is recognized.

(lyx proposed to standardize tag formats and proposed the album artist tag as a base for various artists album detection)

i guess you can also use the tag detection included in navigator suite (used when you put your "var art" albums in a separate folder with the name including the string "various" or "v-a")

acedriver, yours looks mostly how id like it ;)

How does it handle soundtrack\various artist albums though ?

I use "ALBUM ARTIST" tag for various artist album.. it will come out like this:

Yeah, now using Navigator Suite v1.2.2 myself. Simply removed all useless tags from all my files, added singletrack=yes to relevent files, added ALBUM ARTIST=Various Artists to soundtracks\other various artist albums, and sorted by display name - perfect. Great work on lyx's part.. ^^

Now i only need to make a nice custom color scheme for it, and ill publish the screeny here for anyone to see ;)

EDIT: here we go. Modded it a bit (bigger column sizes, no dynamic now playing symbols instead of tracknumber) and added my custom color scheme.

I stripped out Navigator Suite a lot and got what I wanted, besides scrolling became much more smooth. There is little original code left, only a part of colour generation in Globals. :p

After that, I added some colour scheme others posted here and Hydrogenaudio, which are not included in "official" one. Mine is very different from original but colour code is compatible, so it works the same. And thanks to those who posted custom colour code. :)

In this screenshot (so large!) playlist 1 to 13 are "album", and 14 to 21 are "single". It shows as single if at least one of following is met :

1) file has SINGLE or SINGLETRACK tag

2) file doesn't have ALBUM tag

3) file doesn't have TRACKNUMBER tag

4) file has TRACKNUMBER tag but the number is zero

5) file has ALBUM but not TRACKNUMBER tag

6) file has TRACKNUMBER but not ALBUM tag

It also shows as Various Artists if file has VARIOUS or ALBUM ARTIST tag.

I add the config. Any feedback will be accepted.

    • One of my PC's is Windows 11 Home Edition... and guess what? it supports Hyper-V Disks and Containers, as well as WSL2... which these desktop tools leverage on an as-needed basis. It does not need to be enabled system-wide; it merely needs to exist. Furthermore, I tried something yesterday with Hermes Desktop and their "installer" actually builds everything from source as part of its installer toolchain! The installer (and updater as it were) both go through a roughly 19-step process to prep the system for the tool to be used -- and connectivity to local/remote models, local/remote agent configs, and other steps are not included as part of this process (those are all user config steps post-install). ALSO, the "bug wasn't confirmed to exist" is the weakest argument against a bug. That's literally every flawed product's knee-jerk reaction! Even politicians, lawmakers, murderers, and other violent criminals start with that defense... "I deny everything I'm accused of." The bug is the (shared) experience. Whether it's truly Claude Code's fault, or user error, or some other software package being the ultimate culprit, is not the point. They are experiencing unpleasant side effects and don't like that.
    • Each generaton has its exciting times and I was fortunate enough to be right there at the beginning of the PC industry.   I don't think any of us at that time realized how large it would become I still remember working on a TRS-80 with a green screen monitor that kept overheating and dying.     Also used some TRS-80 PCs with tape cartridge memory.   They worked but boy were they slow with everything being a very slow sequential read or write.  But heh, they worked though it wasn't long before they were repaced by the HDD.
    • One Drive should be a four letter word. First thing I disable on my computer. If I want to upload something to the cloud, I use a cloud base storage, NOT microsoft. Oh but what about backup. I have done backups since floppy disk eras...it just comes naturally.
    • It does just not OneCloud. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    • Claude Desktop on Linux doesn’t have ram issues. Strange. 🤷🏻‍♂️
