Windows XP SP2 RC2 Now released!

Recommended Posts

Yes, they are SP2 integrated builds with time bomb

Anyway, for those that are whining about the Download Manager. Do no use SP2 XP to download. Unless you lower the ActiveX security, you will have difficulties downloading.

Also, be more patient. I haven't been forced to download through BitTorrent like some of you did. It is really not that bad.

Since when is asking for help whining? And IT IS that bad for some of us (or at least ME), I would like to be more patient yet I would be waiting forever because the MSFTM does not work! the only reason I have to download from another source is because the the transfer fails to start, the program opens and initiates the download process so my activeX settings have nothing to do with this error. I recently formatted and reinstalled my original-RTM XP copy and tried to download 2142 and it failed as well. It works on the family computer but I dont currently have access to that.

How do you become a windows beta tester?

You send an application at http://beta.microsoft.com and wait, and wait, and wait till they at Microsoft feels like nominating you to a particular beta program, not just a Windows beta... depending on what you select in the application.

The way you sound is indeed whining. If you emailed Beta Admin, they will be glad to reply and help you within 24 hours. You didn't try, and you start whining. And you telling me that's called asking for help. I dunno

Think you are one of the few that are experiencing the problem? You are wrong. I had the same probelm as yours, and I emailed the admin, and we immediately have communication. Sending them some logs, and they analized it.. emailed me back and asked me to try again. Has been working ever since.

hmm considering these forums can be used for quick help (esp. since this is something that someone has probably experienced before) I see nothing wrong with asking here first instead of waiting on someone from MS to email me. Being as I have been nothing but nice in asking for help I would ask that you lighten up and be more helpful instead of being such a jackass. :)

Geez........can't anyone wait a couple of weeks for it to be released?

Who cares if RC2 is available, UNLESS you are a sys admin wanting to check it

on your systems BEFORE you deploy it system wide.

Why anyonw would want to download this, other than bragging rights is beyond

me. I even wait at least a week, when a SP comes out, let others screw around

with bleeding edge......I want S-T-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y

    • Zen Browser 1.20.2b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.20.2b changelog: Security Mozilla Security Advisory 2026-54 New Features Updated to Firefox 151.0.3 Boosts now support a dark mode UI based on your system dark mode setting. • Looks the same as the Air, actually. Check it out in person.
    • "This transition will take several years so we shouldn't bother doing it at all" is a naive take. This is completely normal for all specifications that cross-cut software, hardware and multiple industries. Look at the PCI specification for another example, consumers barely have PCI-E 5 yet PCI-SIG is working on PCI-E 8. AV2 will take multiple years to get adoption and even then, even a decade from now people will still have older hardware that doesn't support it. That's fine, because the savings still add up as newer devices add the hardware to deal with it. The goal is never to get 100% on the new spec overnight, but to gradually adopt it.
    • Firefox, and Vivaldi for the rare instances I need a Chrome based browser for a particular site.
