I believe that that the 6600 has infrared but the 7610 does not.

And Dazzla, really like your phone. I've had my eye on the 7610, even though I can't complain with my Motorola V525 (which I got only a few months ago). Was a Nokia user before, but needed a world phone when I went to Europe this past May, so the V525 replaced my 3100 (which did 850/1800/1900 Mhz, but I needed the 900 Mhz).

Does Nokia still have excellent reception? How's the 7610 holding up in it's mobile phone duties (call quality, etc.)?

I just noticed that the camera lens could get scratched easily (or at least it looks like it: not enough recessed). Do you plan in protecting the lens (like maybe using those PDA screen protectors)?

And another

Unfortunately, I still don't see the appeal of the camera on this phone - just look at the quality dude!

Phones should stay phones, and let Cameras do their job.

However, i'm thinking of getting a new phone myself (on an O2 contract when I get back into Blighty in August).

What do you fellas think of this lil beauty? http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-d410-en.shtml

My gf thinks I should go with a flip phone, so the other choice is the Samsung E700 or the Motorola V600... any opinions on either of these 3 phones guys?

I agree to an extent. The quality isn't amazing, but it's better than normal VGA pictures. Daz, taken one in the dark yet?

As for the D410. It's huge!

Take this as an example, I had a work do last night (retirement), the drinks were flowing, classic tunes were spinning on the decks (YMCA ;) ), everyone was dancing and making fools of themselves, everyone was having a good time. Should I have brought along my A70 then took a few snaps? No, I whipped out my phone, took some snaps, took some videos and uploaded it to my bosses laptop via Bluetooth who promptly printed out some of the more incriminating evidence at work today. This is what camera phones are designed for, not for the digital photographer. So the elitists can drop the chromatic-flared-lens-abberation stuff and let the fun snaps, at the time when a Digital Camera isn't practical, be taken.

You can't look at a cam phone as a replacement for a Digital Camera, it's not, but different circumstances call for different tech. I simply wouldn't have been able to drag my A70 along and have the same effect as sticking my phone in my pocket. For when I want to take real pictures, I use my Digital Camera, for example if I went on holiday and wanted mementos I wouldn't take then pictures with my phone now would I?

I agree there totally Daz. That's why I'd like a higher res cam on my phone. I just wouldn't ever take a digital camera anywhere, except for special occasions. Especially when out on the p*ss, I dont want loads of stuff with me. Wallet, keys, phone. That's it. Ruins the lines of the trousers ;)

Ok, so you already had a SIM card that was programmed. I don't have one so it wouldn't work for me. I was looking at the Motorola V400-V600 line of phones. CellOne wants like $250 for the phone, which is basically MSRP.

can u not buy sims in the US ?

we have a pay as u go thing here were u dont have to get a contract, and u just buy a number pre-programmed to a sim for like ?10

works out more expensive inthe long run mind you if u use ur phone alot:pp

but they sound pretty crap (from my experience on my 3650)

& how were you listening to them then? Hope not through Loud Speaker.

Anyway Dazzla, can you hook me up with the emulator for the NGage games plz.

Cause my 7610 has only had a few ringtones and some themes applied to it.

Some gameage, movies, mp3's and whatever else I can squeeze into the MMC wouldnt go amiss

So if you could pass on the info on the emulator, I'll appreciate it.

    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
