TechNutz
Just did a quick check and I am at 4Mbps / 768kbps on a cable modem. Just a quick qoute from a customer, "I am getting only 512kbps or 64kBps, bits and bytes, so it looks like a problem with computer converting bits to bytes, can you help me. " I wrote back to check his math and got the reply "if you can't help me I am going somewhere else where they can", I think a elementary school would do the most good for this one. wjones3
Here in Philadelphia, PA, I have 1.5mb downloads and 384kb uploads - DSL. It's nice, but I am thinking about increasing my bandwidth. Though I must say that Verizon's new offer of fiber runs is very tempting. Unfortunately, no fiber has been laid out in my area. :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/188118-whats-your-speed/page/5/#findComment-2543453 Share on other sites

Radium
jerzdawg: your ISP will tell you you've got 3Mbps download, and 512 upload. This is in Megabits, and Kilobits.If you want to convert into download speed, just divide the value by 8. so.... 3Mbps or3072kb/s = 384kilobytes per second 512Kb/s = 64kilobytes per second 3 Mbit = 3,000 kbit = 3,000,000 bit 3,000,000 bit = 375,000 B 375,000 B = 366.2109375 kB 512 kbit = 512,000 bit 512,000 bit = 64,000 B 64,000 B = 62.5 kB Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/188118-whats-your-speed/page/5/#findComment-2543505 Share on other sites
