Your Mac Hardware Setup

Recommended Posts

I hardly ever post here, but anyway...

My new (and only) iMac 24" that I got last week (sold my MacBook and Dell 24" monitor to get some extra money for this puppy). Please ignore the date... I didn't bother to set it on my camera :p

Does anyone know where I can get such slim external HD cases (I'm supposing that black box under the iMac is an external HD).

Check out the Western Digital Passport External Drive. They are just like that and small. If I am not mistaken Best Buy will have them on sale on Sunday for 119.99 for the 320 GB model. I use one with my MacBook and it does great. Very portable

Mucho gracias, senior. I'll definitely hit up Best Buy and grab one. I've been after a small one like that for my laptop as well.

Yes, I do! ;)

And yes, it is an external HD for Time Machine. It is just an enclosure for 2.5" SATA drives (like those found in MacBooks), so if you want that exact same one, you'll have to bring your own HDD.

Here is the link from the manufacturer (Laser)

As mentioned, you can buy the Western Digital Passport drives which are sexy as well - or Seagate FreeAgent Go's which are also slim - these drives come with the HDDs built in and cannot be removed (swap out HDDs). I would recommend you purchase the WD Passport because it comes in a nice pouch as well. :)

The one that was in the photo, Laser Case-2S (note that this is the top side, in the photo, I flipped it on its side so the glossy side is showing (bottom side, in reality):

    • They want Ring 0 access. Should be a hard no. A middle ground needs to be found.
