[NFL] Cowboys to release Q. Carter?!

Recommended Posts

surprised about the move.. but im more surprised by the reaction from you cowboys fans.. i have friends in dallas that are huge cowboys fans and they cant stand quincy carter.. and just about every other cowboys fan ive talked to has ripped him to pieces.. but you guys seem to like him

Romo was #3 last year, only became #2 while Hutch was injured.

The same Hutch who was sent to NFL Europe because he sucked? Parcells was doing what Jones said until he got fed up with Hutch. Romo would have been the second-string by the end of the year either way. And taking over second-string is still taking over second-string, anyway you look at i:):)

Go to #14 (or search for Romo): http://apps.footballguys.com/03update90.htm

Parcells has pretty much always thought of Romo as ahead of Hutch.

Seems to me I'm the only one in the thread who thinks that.

EDIT: On ESPN the guy just said that Parcells is big on Romo and something about him being good... missed it, though.

Actually, I like him, but not as our QB. The problem in the past was...there wasn't anyone better on the team. Now that we have Testaverde and Henson....Carter should be #3 on the chart.

Romo may impress Parcells, but I can't see a guy from Eastern Illinois University being the #1 guy in Dallas. He wasn't that great in college.

BOOG, have you seen his college credentials (or seen him play)? To say he wasn't good in college is quite possibly the biggest overstatement I've ever heard.

I never said he was going to be #1... I said he'll probably be #2. Him being #1 would be just as much of a mistake as Henson starting.

The problem is, Troy Aikman, Emmit Smith and Michael Irvin are retired.

Dallas fans think of themselves as the Yankees of the NFL, that they should be in the super bowl every year. Everyone hates the Cowboys except Cowboy fans, just like the Yankees.

You go up and down, look at the Rams. You have to draft well in the NFL, you can't just buy a team and win. Ask Sneider in Washington, lots of talent, no one to direct them. Sure they have Parcells, now he has to rebuild.

Seeing how My wife went to Eastern Illinois, and we've been to a couple games there where he played, and they play Illinois State here in town......Yes. I have seen him play, and have seen his credentials.

And yes. He didn't impress me while in college.

Actually, I wouldn't be so happy about this, if I were an Eagle fan.:laugh:h:

i rather either a just out of baseball drew henson or still sly but over 40 vinny than quincy carter whom we have seen and has seen us for the past 2 years. i see ur point as far as talent is concerned but i reiterate.. Go Eagles!!!

Another update from DallasCowboys.com

Jerry Jones confirmed that Carter will be released.

But back to the topic of his abilities:

Regardless of how well he did in college, I think he has been far from consistant in the NFL.

He has good days, but many bad days. And personally, I think Dallas would have done even better if he would have been on target more often.

If he was alot more consistant, I think he would be great. But he's still young, and got lots of time to work on it.

As far as Testaverde, I think he's just temp filler. He's there because Dallas has no seasoned verteran QB. Simple as that.

I don't see him lasting but a season or two. They needed someone who could step in and work under pressure, and when Aikman retired, they lost that. And Quincy just doesn't have that.

Maybe Irvin is still hanging around Cowboys camp after all then eh? Once a Cowboy, always a Cowboy.

Try to stay on topic, instead of trying to incite team bashing. Your comment has nothing to do with this topic. If Eagle and Cowboy fans can get along fine in this forum, you can too.

I must say that I am not shocked at all that Carter got cut. He wasn't going to take the 'Boys anywhere. I don't believe that Testeverde is the answer. I can honestly see Dallas making a big move to get a new starter. I know that Henson has potential but the 'Boys need a QB now and fact be known Testeverde is past his prime. Pending how well the whole Eli Manning thing goes I wouldn't count Warrener out of being in Dallas.

To get a new starter? Fat chance, I think.

I think with the acquisitions of Keyshawn and Eddie that the Cowboy's will feel that nows there time to make a move. I expect pressure from the upper brass and if Vinnie doesn't win then there will be a quick move. Just my opinion though. Feel free to disagree.

Yes, but neither of those were exactly a secret. Plus Parcells has said he's pretty much sticking with these guys... I'll take his word on it. :) Jones is the upper brass, and he doesn't exactly want to go out and get any more QBs, either, from what he's saying.

No one told him to take illegal substances

Plus, he's too full of himself when he stated he was GOING to be the starter because he was the best quarterback the team had. If he wouldn't be too full of himself, he wouldn't take substances.

Get him out of there!

    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.
