Being a moderator is nothing special. You guys fail to realize that all members are equal here at Neowin. This isn't like other communities where the mods are seen as all mighty and such. We simply clean up after the members who choose to not contribute, that's all. Sure, I view it as a privilege, but it's not something you absolutely need.

If you care about being a mod, then you aren't ready to be one. Also, you really have to be prepared for a lot of "stress" that you don't expect normally.

Same view here. But if you guys do need extra help with mod duties... I'm going to have a lot of free time on my hands over the next few years. (Heading back to university to complete my 5 year IT degree)

Being a mod is special - special in the sense that it is a big privilege. Being part of a ever growing and ever special community here is something special.

Just a tip tho - we opperate a "we'll call you" system... if you show consistent helpfulness then we might consider you at a future point in time. If youve contributed something special to neowin, we might look into making you a mod.

We'd like members to come here and contribute here for the sake of being a member - not for the sake of ultimatly becoming a mod. It might happen - it might not. Dont base your membership at neowin around it :)

that said... im looking for people who are good writers, and have a passion for IT. You must have a good grasp of the english language, grammar, structure, analysis, and journalism. My ideal person would be a journalism student looking for a bit more experience; if your interested - send me a PM / email (link below).

I've been informed that the increase in a warning level will grant you moderator status quite quickly. You will be on the moderators and admin's minds as you have obviously done something special to attract their attention.

If you keep posting to increase your warning level you will grant exceedingly great amounts of attention from possibly not one, but many moderators!

Good luck to you all in your persuit to become a member in the most sought after position known to man, a Neowin Moderator. (Y)

**Edit to Mr. Magoo - What did you think of my SP2 review? Was that broken down and written well? Just your opinion...

(Y) Very nice words Mr. Magoo, oh I will write up the thread on NeoRequest once we get authentication sorted out.

Edit: Thanks Mr Magoo for your PM, I will have to turn the posistion down.

hi just wondering how do we become a mod do we just report things or are we randomly selected

you blew it :o

1) NEVER ask about becoming a mod

2) NEVER mention wanting to be a mod

3) NEVER mention the word "mod" unless you are talking about making alterations to your computer

4) you can offer bribes such as beer, money, real estate, men for the female mods/women for the male mods, housework, car washing, cooking, doing their laundry, paying their credit card bills, etc. BUT....that might not even be enough. it's better to just follow 1-3 and do everything in 4.

I can tell you right now, being a mod isn't as easy as you might think. I help mod a couple of forums, of course none as big as Neowin, but I can imagine the headaches the mods and admins here have from my past mod experiences.

Sure it's a nice privilege and looks great next to your name, but do you really want to get pm'ed 89745978974 times a day, have to either edit or delete or move posts/threads etc etc etc?

Think about that before you start asking about becoming a mod on a forum with 50K+ members :p

I wonder if I can still become a moderator.

I only flame when under undue or extreme stress (such as when being flamed), and I try to help as much as I can. I'm currently preparing a guide/article on how to customise Windows XP, and I will post it as soon as possible.

Hell no you'd go on a ban spree and ban everybody in sight that didn't agree with you for whatever reason.

Probably even try banning the bloody admins...

What? Go on a banning spree?:laugh:h::no:o: Homer?, maybe you were using that flaming incident in the Soapbox to view me, but to tell you, since that incident, I have become more open. So what if someone's signature screams "Got weed?" or something like that? I won't care. Just as long as he stay within the rules (which I have been burning into my brain the past week), I won't touch him/her. And the incident in the Soapbox was also partially caused by you too, although I admit I had to shoulder some of the blaRadish? n>explained to me his actions; I have tried to ask him more, but I later found it out myself.

And I want to add: what did you call the administrato:shifty:hifty:

Probably even try the bloody adminsmins...

ok great, let's not go into the "who is mod material and not". I think the admins/staff already know who has it in them and who doesn't.
