This is what I was able to narrow it down to. It only appears without the text as in the picture after I installed SP1 for .Net Framework. When I removed SP1 from it, it appeared fine. Maybe something to look into fixing for a future release. THANKS!!!!

How about the ability to display both the percentage and remaining time? May sound dumb :(

Also not sure if this was mentioned, and not like it is so bad, could always type it in, but when clicking the theme website, such as mentioned in the glass battery theme, http://elpincho.tk it does nothing.

I have compiled it against the standard .NET framework that came with SP2. So that might be the problem.

I'll install SP1 and recompile it again and see if that makes any difference.

I might include that option in a future release.

Correct, the onclick event for that label hasn't been implemented yet. Blame my lazyness :p

Thanks. This worked. I was trying to get it to startup by having a HKLM\Run Key start it up, but it kept giving me a .Net error when it was attempting to start it.

Ah crap, that was exactly the way I wanted to implement it.....

Now I have to figure out how to add something to the startup folder through .NET.... ah well I'll find a way eventually.

It was indeed the SP1 for the .NET framework causing problems. After adding a manifest file the problems were solved (at least at my PC).

So Crazyhawki, please redownload the package. It is now recompiled against the .NET SP1 framework and the manifest file is added.

Hope it works now for you!

Here's a feature suggestion:

There should be an option called transparent mode.

Example:

You have Firefox open.

You have your monitor part of the links bar, part of the tab bar, and the close tab button.

You have your monitor in 50% opacity.

Because your monitor is 50% opaque, you can see the obscured parts of Firefox through the monitor.

You have your monitor in transparent mode.

You click the close tab button.

The monitor recieves the click, but then passes it on to the same screen location in Firefox.

The tab is closed.

Also, there should be an option to disable the system tray icon and call up the prefs box with a keyboard shortcut like Ctrl+Shift+P, and force-show the monitor with Ctrl-Shift-M.

What would be really nice, is if the tray icon would mimick the battery monitor. This way, if BM.NET isn't set as 'always on top', you can still see the status.

I have the default XP battery monitor in the tray + yours, and when I glance down there, my eyes focus on yours first ;-), and I start freaking out that I have no battery left! (You're icon looks like an 'empty' battery compared to the XP one)

It's on my todo list, so it will definitly be added sometime.

Click through.... I'll see if I can implement that. Don't know exactly how to do that, but I'll take a look at it.

This app is deliciously gorgeous. I heart it. Please take these comments as constructive criticism :)

1) I would like a "Stick to Desktop" mode like, say, Rainlendar has. I don't want it always on top, but I don't want it in the middle of windows either.

2) It needs to not show up in the ALT+TAB menu.

3) I would like an option to show the meter while on battery or charging, and then play a sound and fade out the meter when battery is fully charged. I don't need the meter when I'm charged :)

4) Mimic meter status in taskbar tray, which has been mentioned.

5) Just as a good option for new users, offer to auto-disable showing the other battery icon (from Windows) upon startup.

6) Show both % and time in the tooltip or even in the meter as Windows does.

7) Double-clicking the systray icon does a weird animation without doing anything constructive.

8) No option to stop showing the meter and just minimize to tray.

EDIT: Just upgraded to .3. The installer should shut down the app automatically if it's running before trying to upgrade (it threw an error).

But these are just things I've noticed; I really do like this program and will continue to use it!

1) Been looking into such a thing, not quite clear yet how to do it. So yes I'm working on it but other things have higher priority.

2) Have no idea how to do that, have to investigate that.

3) Right now (in version 0.3) you can enable an alert to notify you the battery is charged. I'll implement the sound option later and the fade out too. Seem like usefull features.

4) On my todo list.

5) No idea how to do that. The battery CAN NOT be removed (it's one of those icons that is always there sadly), though I can hide it, like XP hides other inactive icons. I have no idea on how to do it, but I assume it is in the registry somewhere. I'll see what I can do about that.

6) In tooltip no problem, on the meter itself it is quite a bit harder and I don't think I wll do that... it also looks a bit weird frankly (I had a, rather buggy, version that displayed both and I didn't like it).

7) It is brute forcing the monitor do display and get on top in the Z-order. In order to force that it first has to minimize... this is weird, but it seems to be the only way to get it on top again after using the "show desktop" shortcut in the quicklaunchbar. It quite weird, but couldn't get it working properly in the normal ways.

8) Will add that

EDIT: I use NSIS (for the first time) and I have no idea on how to make NSIS close applications. I don't really want to waste my time for something like that, so for now just close the program before updating.

Thanks for the (constructive) comment (Y)

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
