Umm.. am I missing something? Q2 story? Marine dumped on a planet and guided mysteriously to complete objectives that don't really make much sense?

Seriously I don't remember a plot outside of we're on a planet with mean aliens... that seem to assymilate people....

Okay, people.. honestly, don't sit there and say "I don't get the story so it's a dumb game." It all makes sense.. especially if you paid any attention to Quake 1 and 2. Ever read the books that came with the game? They explain the story as well. Basically the Stroggos (spelling?) invaded Earth initally (Quake 1), marines sent in to destroy them.. that was taken care of... and because they ****ed us off we sent a huge ass ship full of marines to their planet (Quake 2) to kick their ass. Granted that's one lame summary, that's what it's all about. If I remember right, but correct me if I'm wrong, the marines that were sent to Stroggos were not able to return to Earth? I forgot.. :ninja:

By looking at those screens you can tell it's running the DooM3 engine. Very nice, but as has already been stated, it does look almost too similar, and because of this people are saying it sucks. I understand peoples point, but I presume those shots are not final 'gone gold' screenies. Thus the probability of them being revamped.

Now I have played all the Quakes since their release dates, and even some public betas. And I am a major fan of the series, more so with 1 & 3. The fact that this Quake4's single player story will continue on from Quake2 does not bother nor really interest me either. As long as it has the multiplayer fundementals that made what Quake 3 Arena was, I will be happy. It is by far the best game engine I have ever played any dm/tdm/ctf game on, aswell as the most excellent q3f beta 1h. The engine was perfect and balanced and had that 'weighty' feel, unliike UT at the time which felt like you were ice skating and that everything was light.

The stroggos were never in Quake, the storylines are two totally separate storys.

I'm pretty sure it had some tie to the Stroggos though, didn't it? ... had to have been. Was it something along the lines of "creatures" that they sent to Earth then? It has been ages..

    • Not such a great deal, Ultimate, which gives you full 5080 features is $181.99 CAD per month, that's $2183.88 per year, I can buy the 5080 for $1809.99 CAD, then it goes up to $279.99 per month after the first billing cycle. Typical cloud rental, costs more than buying the hardware.
    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
