"Lost" TV Show - Currently Season 2 (US aired)

Being a good patriot, I can't let yet another Bash America post go without response.

[reply was here]

I disagree - the pace of season 2 is nowhere near that of season 1 and it is INCREDIBLY frustrating. We need the same pace, even if it does mean it's only a 3-4 season long show - I'd rather have that than 8 painfully slow seasons any day! Season 1 was tense, full of suspense and very quick-paced, which made it brilliant. Season 2 lingers on everything and forgets a lot. I still love it, though just not as much these days.

in the UK for instance, there is NEVER a break in a series. They never - EVER just stop showing a series mid-season for a week or 2 (or in the case of lost 6 weeks) It just never happens.

Thats true but when there are breaks are really long.

Lets say:

Life on Mars  (I cant stop crying because this show will resume in 07!)

The IT Crowd (the same, new ep in 2007!)

lylesback2, Lost is about flashback

i mean, i hope nobody leaks anything about the final episode, EVEN the who the flashbacks are about

From what I've heard, the finale script is going to be kept hush hush until it airs, so hopefully it stays that way  I want to be absolutely surprised.

how the seasons played/will play down:

Season 1:

9 weeks (makes sense because they had to establish a new show)

1 week off

2 weeks

3 weeks off

3 weeks

2 weeks off

4 weeks

3 weeks off

2 weeks

3 weeks off

4 weeks

Total Break Time = 12 weeks

Season 2:

5 weeks

2 weeks off

4 weeks

5 weeks off

3 weeks

1 week off

2 weeks

1 week off

1 week

3 weeks off

4 weeks

2 weeks off

4 weeks

Total Break Time = 14 weeks

so only 2 more weeks worth overall...hardly the big difference people keep bitching about...

Well pretty much every TV starts in September/October, that's when the little kids go back to school.

May/June is when it's over, that's when the little kids go outside.

A regular TV series has 22 episodes. Between September and May is about 31 weeks (that's couting the latest September and the Earliest May). There will always be breaks in between when a TV series starts in the fall. It's the way it works, and how it always has been.

That's when the producers of 24 decided to put it in January b/c the TV series still ends in May, but air it straight through. So, yeah let's hope the producers decide to move to January.

But my comment on the pace is that it's still good, but ths season I wouldn't say is up to par from last season. There's probably been about 4 episdoes that are really good so far. 2 of them in recent weeks.

A simple reason, they dont have enough ep and there is nothing more to say about the story. So they take long breaks because of that and when they come back the rating explodes

Let me state this again... it isn't just Lost that does this  All popular shows that start in September (24 is an expection because it starts in Jan.) do this. It is for advertising pricing.

maybe there is someone with a lil of time (and patience) to answer me this, I was watching (again) the ep "The Other 48 Days" (to me one of the most insteresting episodes of the whole series (because is focused on whats going on and there are no "flashbacks" (note the quotes)):

1. Bernard and Rose were in the same plane, why he was on the back and Rose was on the front of the plane?

2. Goodwin said (when he was talking with Ana about why he thinks they take that 9 people the 1st night): "That first night they took the strongest of "us", "our" quiet friend, three other guys. They're all athletic, tough, threats", (they try with Mr. Eko, and they saw/suffer the result :D) why they didnt take Swayer, Michael, Sayid or Jin? (Jack is the MD, they couldnt, dont they? :p)

3. Ana was about to cut a Nathan finger the next day (the guy on the hole (that Ana did in 2 day  without any tool but a stick with something in the end)), Goodwin listen that, why did he kill him?. Because he was the natural leader and they want Ana as a leader?. Goodwin did a favor to Nathan or he was trying to send them to the other 'hatch' and Nathan wasnt go to the jungle?

I hope someone has the time to answer me :D

Really... how unnecessary

Actually, I disagree with you. If you're someone new to the show and missed the first half of the season, then this is great. You've got to remember that this show requires every previous episode, if you miss even just one, you will miss something and then won't understand what's going on.

I think the UK might catch up for the start of season 3...

Season 2 is about to start the first week in may i believe and theres what, 22 eps? so in 22 weeks we we see the finale..

You U.S guys wont start season 3 by then will you? So maybe they will try and syncronise will US..

Thats assuming they havent got something else to start up and go through...

Has the finale been filmed yet? how far before they show do they get filmed...Would love to be one of the camera men, you'd be the some of the first to know :p

Edit : bugger spelling!

Its in the process of being filmed...I have read a few major spoilers but again near the end of the seasons of shows people will make stuff up to look cool...but the one I have read comes with a cast sheet and the story so its near bulletproof... :shifty:

I'm pretty sure the executive producers have said there will be 24 episodes. I'll go back through the official podcast and verify that. I know for a fact that there will be at least 23 episodes, but I'm pretty sure there's 24 in store.

Wikipedia is now stating that episodes 23/24, entitled Live Together, Die Alone, will be a Desmond flashback :woot:

Now that is going to be a couple killer episodes

yep thats the spoiler I had...I have the cast sheet of who will apearing on the episode and desmond is one of them along with

libby and kelvin and marvin candle

There is another angle to consider when discussing breaks during the season. This is my theory so others can/may discount it. I don't know all the details but this only seems logical.

Lost pays each actor X number of dollars per episode. A repeat will not pay the same to the actor.

Advertisers pay X number of dollars per 30 second spot. That price does not change despite being a repeat.

By stretching the time frame out and using repeats (and recaps) the studio makes more money to offset the huge costs of filming in Hawaii and paying to keep the cast members.

I believe this is the formula used by the big networks in the US. Smaller networks making a name for themselves (FX, SciFi, etc) don't follow this model as it brings in more of a loyal audience.

Just some food for thought.

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
